    Troubleshooting possible fuel pump failure

Definitely heard a click metallic sound before she died. Don't think its filter-related.

    Troubleshooting possible fuel pump failure

Definitely heard the pump actuate for two seconds after turning the ignition key, so maybe that is not the problem. Will test relay next.

    Troubleshooting possible fuel pump failure

Folks, Driving down the road last week, heard something like a click or clack (felt like it was from behind me) and the Vette petered out on me along the road-side. Acted as if I had run out of gas but tank is full. Engine turns over like normal crank but doesn't start up. Again, as if out of...

1980 Power window gear/motor repair "Whaaa.?"

Yes, I did figure it out and it was pretty easy. See my post and photos on replacing the motor. Simply put, you remove the three long screws that hold the motor housing together, then the motor gear is exposed and you simply turn the motor by hand to move the window up or down. Remember to align...

Wipers power OFF while driving in rain.....

I'll spend some time on it this weekend. It will rarely ever be driven in the rain, that's for sure.

Wipers power OFF while driving in rain.....

Have never driven my 1982 Vette in the rain for any extended period of time.....until yesterday that is. After 20-30 minutes of wiper use the wipers powered off all by themselves and would not power back ON. Luckily the windshield glass angle blows most of the rain off and I was able to exit...

Car won't start after heats up

Had the same problem with my '68 Firebird 428.....would not restart after a drive until everything cooled off a bit. Losing patience and trying to crank it would just kill the battery every time. This happened ALL the time for months. The problem is the starter solenoid getting too hot. Two...

    Old School A/C versus conversion

SUCCESS! Had the system professionally purged on the way home last night (no charge to me and he checked for leaks) and then I successfully converted the system to R-134a. At first I thought it was a lost cause because the empty compressor was heaving and hissing, fluctuating between 25-45 PSI...

1982 Fan/Blower switch does not activate/control the blower

Thanks all. Replaced the fuse (old one appeared to be fine) and the blower cranked right up. Was able to convert and successfully replenish the A/C last evening. Will post that info on the other discussion thread.

Headlight switch rod is H-O-T Hot

Yep guys, I said a great deal of bad words last evening but it all worked out. Also replaced the Turn Signal Indicator Bulbs in the Instrument Panel using the infamous "Rubber-Hose-Suction" method described by a fellow member here. Worked like a charm and now I know when I've forgotten to turn...

1982 Fan/Blower switch does not activate/control the blower

Thanks gents; will relook the Fuse Box tonight and hope to find that blown fuse. Curious timing for sure, since for the past few weeks I've been running the A/C with VERY LITTLE or no cold air coming out. Was about to take the Conversion Steps but can't do that without control of the blower of...

1982 Fan/Blower switch does not activate/control the blower

The blower/fan worked just fine a week ago, now I get no action when engaging the switch. I know there is an extra relay for the MAX setting, but where is the fuse that protects the blower in all the other modes (low, middle, high)? Not an obvious fuse labeled in the fuse box. I was going to...

Headlight switch rod is H-O-T Hot

OK, knocked this task out last night and all is well. New switch assembly works fine, rheostat properly increases and decreases brightness for instruments and courtesy lights, Headlights pop up and down correctly. I found that it was much easier for me to approach the removal of the old switch...

    Old School A/C versus conversion

Picked up the 60 dollar "conversion kit" from Oriellys. The video CD that came with it appears to be an easy job. Only concern is how do you know the old R gas/freon is completely gone and the system is empty?

Headlight switch rod is H-O-T Hot

Thanks, Tom. I'll give it another try tonight.

Headlight switch rod is H-O-T Hot

Folks, started this project last evening but quickly got bogged down trying to remove the drivers side vent assembly. The duct going to it is easy to get out of the way, but the vent assembly itself appears to be held to the back of the dash by two screws (?) that can only be accessed from the...

Headlight switch rod is H-O-T Hot

Headlight switch assembly arrived today. Will swap out the old one tonight and see how things go.

Headlight switch rod is H-O-T Hot

Mikey, you may have nailed this one for me......the rheostat on the headlight switch turns and clicks as it should (mechanically) but does not actually turn the interior lights on or off or affect the dash lights, nor does it brighten/dim them when turning the rheostat left and right. The...

Headlight switch rod is H-O-T Hot

This past Saturday evening we drove for an hour or so, and while pulling back in to the garage I reached to push IN the headlight switch....my fingers passed over the round switch itself and momentarily touched the actual pull-pull rod....was TOO HOT to touch for more than a millisecond! What...
