    87 Vert w/Automatic transmission

The U-joints were all checked and are fine. I was wondering about play in the diff which I believe I noted in my original post. The hubs have all undergone replacement also. This noise/click has been there since I've had the car...about 4-5 years and I'm just getting around to wondering about...

    87 Vert w/Automatic transmission

Thanks for the information. I'll take a peek at the adjustment and make sure it's on target. Again...thanks a bunch. I don't post here much but I read the stuff you guys write and it's a great place for information. I've saved both a lot of money and hair by reading here.

    87 Vert w/Automatic transmission

Since I've owned this car, the transmission shifts have been rather abrupt and not smooth as I was accustomed to in other cars. On most shifts, when it shifts, there is an audible click or snap. It happens on shifts from 1-2-3 upshifting and I notice it when the transmission shifts back to 1st...

    Heads Up

Causeway. It always happens just as you pass the last turnaround. :L 24 miles long for those who wonder.

    Heads Up

Something I experienced might help you not experience it. Several weeks ago, I was driving across the Lake Ponchartrain bridge when I heard (and felt) a 'bang!' that sounded like a tire blowing out. Since you cannot stop on the bridge unless everything else fails, I slowed down and tapped the...

    Question: C4 convertible

I have gotten 2 sets of clubs in the back of my C-4 Convert but I had to take the Big Berthas out and put them in the passenger seat area. It's a tight fit but doable.

    1987 L-98 Craps Itself

Gauges normal. I smelled anti-freeze and my first thought was to check the passenger floor pan for a leaky heater core. It was dry but steam was coming out from the right-front wheel well. Looked under the car and there was a gusher going from the radiator or front of the engine. The liquid...

    Electronic Dash lamps

You can remove the new bulbs from the sockets and throw the new sockets away if you wish. Just be careful not to handle the bulbs with your bare hands as the oil from your skin will shorten the life of the bulbs. I've found that using shrink tubing of the appropriate diameter works very well...

    Interior Lights

I think I'd recall the guy who fixed the starter and tell him that he has a problem. I'd say he knocked a wire loose when he was fooling around behind the driver-side hush panel. You shouldn't have to pay more to get the job done right.

Loose (steering) Wheel - NOT the nut behind it

I replaced mine (an 87) last year with a used column from Corvette Salvage in Mississippi. If I recall, it cost me about $250 or $300 for a good column. Sorry, I don't remember the exact amount. It wasn't a difficult job. http://www.corvettesalvage.com

    Power Door Lock Relay

The buzz is coming from behind the dash panel. I believe it's located near the driver's right knee but it might be coming from behind the driver information panel. It's not coming from the breaker. The TDM is located farther to the right than where I believe the noise is coming from but it...

    Power Door Lock Relay

I've got the schematics and I can see the TDM. I'm going to have to pull the hush panels and see if I can find where my buzzing sound (intermitant) is coming from. It stops when I pull the 30A breaker which is how I isolated the circuit. I never set the alarm anyway because I never lock the...

    Power Door Lock Relay

Can someone tell me where this relay is located in an 87 Vert?

Puff of smoke on start up

Given the information you've posted, it would appear that valve seals are probably the culprit. http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/kb/question.php?qstId=328 It's not something that needs immediate attention but if you have occasion to have the heads worked on, replacing the seals would be a...

    Anyone with 50watt foglights?

I recently installed the Silverstar lamps as replacements for the originals and they work very well.

    1986 Corvette not charging

That's strange. Normally with something French, all you have to do is threaten to hit it with something and it'll start running. That must be a stubborn alternator. Ok, Ok, Ok. It was just a joke.:eyerole

    Aaaarrrggghhhhhh! The noise went away

Several months ago I finally got around to getting hearing aids and since then I've also heard that "chirping" you describe but mine comes from the console area (I think). It sounds like plastic rubbing on plastic but I haven't been able to determine which pieces are rubbing so I've learned to...

    Aaaarrrggghhhhhh! The noise went away

Yes, I do and I thank you for that information. Hopefully, this week I'll be able to get the time to do some digging. Can you tell me where the Bose relay is located?

    Aaaarrrggghhhhhh! The noise went away

I don't believe it's the flasher unit as both the turn signals and the 4-ways work even though the breaker is out. I'm going out of town tomorrow and won't be able to get into it until a week or so but I really appreciate the responses thus far. I'm pretty sure it'll be easy to figure out...
