Its a big issue the U joint is pressed into the halfshaft. Then the retainer is placed in the grove. If you can put them in by hand something is wrong or you are very strong. The shafts come in two OD sizes 2 1/2 and 3 inch OD. Check ebay
On my 73 and 77. I didn't have to cut any metal off the reinforcement and used the stock retainers. I would not use the individual retainers, as they don't give an even clamp load across the bumper.
As far as the relays one should be for the blower motor. The other is a starter interlock override switch. And the one under the console power window relay. The alternator is on the drivers side.
I am guessing this connector is in your console area? It looks like the neutral start for an automatic trans. I think both were in the harness and they used what ever the car called for. The only other item that used that heavy guage purple wire was the rear defroster. Hope this helps
I know some dealer invoices are available fo 77. Got mine through the GM media archives. The strange twist to it shocked me a little. The car was sold from a New Jersey dealer sill in buisness. And was ordered by a GM employee at Linden Assembly. I too worked there retired now. He worked one...
You diden't say if you removed the windshield. If you have and plan on reinstalling it you may go with urethane sealer. The older cars used a butyal ribbon tape. Which is out lawed in some if not all states. If you use the urethane you won't need to use the dum dum.
Well I found the dimensions. The 200r4 from the face to the trans mount is 27 inches the 400 is 26 15/16. I am hoping I can get away with the stock crossmember. Eliminate the th350 support and just use the two holes in the top of the crossmember.
I haven't seen pictures of this either, but I have read about it. Can't remember where. I will be doing this swap in my 77. The trans is done, and I have a spare crossmember to play with. Just have to get my butt in gear.
