Installed Vortex Rammer & Powerduct today...not much (if any) difference?!

Haven't seen the Vortex instructions, but Halltech mentions a five-minute idle relearn cycle. Here's the stuff from another forum: The PCM will automatically adjust the air fuel ratios in all 17 Closed Loop fuel cells. This takes about 100 miles of driving. Pulling the fuses can reset the...

    Stereo Feedback

A little bit of info about the car might help. Did you buy it new? Is it modified? How long has the interference been present? ['Feedback' would technically be the stereo system squealing from continuously reamplifying it's own sound, like Jimi Hendrix]. Where is it present- am, fm, cd, tape...

Change from 2:73 to 3:42 diff

Well... It kind of depends upon whether he's planning on using it in competition/dragging. Aftermarket units run $1300-$2000 with suitable exchange. That's not installed, of course. You can probably get used units for less, but you'd be taking a big chance for not much savings. If the rear...

    6-Speed Question

I've seen several mentions of this elsewhere, so you're not alone, and searches may yield more info. I don't know if the oem shifter has stops that might be involved like some of the aftermarket ones do, but c4c5specialist's certainly familiar with the situation.

    Stereo Feedback

If you could describe the symptoms a bit, someone may be able to help. Do you mean your are hearing noise/interference from the ignition system through the speakers?

    wax suggestions ?

Meguiar's Gold Class beads; I don't know about their carnauba wax. One trick is not to use a spray nozzle or use the setting that best approximates unobstructed flow. That way, most of the water will sheet off leaving fewer beads than if a mist spray is used. It also leaves a lot less water on...

    corvette bra

It shouldn't be a problem so long as you keep the inside of the bra and the area it mounts to clean and don't leave it on when it's wet so that moisture can be trapped inside. Never had any marks that couldn't be taken off with swirl remover. I'd definitely recommend them for trips.

Cure time on paint for new 'Vette

One Chevrolet body shop manager I spoke to told me they allow 60 days.

    Rubbing clearcoat out

Has the car be repainted? I thought base/clear coat was a bit later. Either way, be very careful. In any case, IIRC, Meguiar's starts with the highly abrasive polishes at the low numbers. 1 or 2 would be extremely so. Their Swirl Remover is 9. Mine's in a tan bottle, but that may have changed...

    71 Tachometer Question

Can't find my C3 stuff, and several things can go wrong, but the most common one is for the gear that is driven by the distributor (and turns the tach cable) to have its teeth stripped. The tach drive/cable is at a bad angle. IIRC, the gear is under a screw-on cover on the distributor housing...

Ramps that fit the tires of a Z06?

I haven't checked, but my understanding is that the drain plug location is not at the rear of the pan in this instance and prevents all the oil from being drained completely unless the car is level. The advantage I've heard to changing the oil when it's hot is that it carries away particles in...

Ramps that fit the tires of a Z06?

What's the best method for getting all the old oil out? Jacking the rear up to make it level?

    "Quiet Ride" Compartment Divider

I'm sure there are solutions, but the potential market for the Z06/FRC specific items is not a huge one. Otherwise, it's just a question of getting the right combination. I don't know what that piece uses, but on one of the following sites, someone also made one out of MDO plywood (IIRC) and...

    "Quiet Ride" Compartment Divider

Not familiar with Eckler's, but there is another one which may have predated it: http://store.yahoo.com/corvetteforum/frcinparmays.html Don't know whether it works or not, but the right material ought to do something. Some owners in another forum say this one works. FWIW.

    collectable corvettes

During the Barrett-Jackson auction earlier this year, the 'expert' commentators voiced the opinion the Corvette values escalated as the stock market fell due to investors seeking refuge. They cited the late '80's price escalation as an example.
