Important! Information Regarding 2012 and 2013 Corvette Production

Interesting that GM will cease production of the C6 for "several months" to deplete existing inventory, prior to releasing the C7. I guess those that want to "negotiate down" a price on a new C6 with C7's on the lot will get shut out. :chuckle Also, regarding the LS7 in a 'vert, those that get...

    Question: Oil drain plugs??

Did both plugs look like this? Here's a pic of both cleaned and still loaded plugs. This engine has 51,XXX miles on it, and the oil change intervals are 20% oil life, give or take.

Tomorrow we’ll show you the C7 Corvette (can't say if its real or BS but here goes)

doubt this is it! GM is secretly praising Jalopnick for making the C7 have some media buzz. Lately, there's been nothing to talk about. Whether this is it or not, we're speculating. I'd like to see the interior. (Oh yeah, I sure hope it doesn't look like a friggen C4!) It looks like the...

    New guy with C6 question

OP~ There have been numerous threads about the "C6 gas cap." Here's what I can tell you. Some early gas caps caused a code to be thrown. Causing a "check engine light" (CEL) to be illuminated. Once it has been replaced, the light may (or may not) go out, but the code is still stored. You'll...

Grand Sport New GS owner with a question

The only thing I use NAV for is @ 1/32nd mile scale. I use it to tell me what an unknown road is going to do if I'm "railing" it. Saved my bacon a coupla times (and almost cost me my bacon other times.) Speaking of which, why is bacon $8 a pound?:eyerole

Warning! Mid - America car cover disaster

Lens crazing is caused by heat cycling. So, here's what we've got~ 1. DRL's are on all the time and they get warm. (Unless you turn them off, like I do.) They've been known to get warm enough to melt/distort the plastic ABS connector, causing failure. 2. I'm not familiar with the "Typhoon"...

    Not a good year

Chances are, your lean codes were tripped because of the fuel's oxygenate. That's what happened to me.

    Question: winter storage battery question

vintagez~ What if you were to just remove the neg. cable from the battery terminal for the winter? This way, you could leave the battery in the car. (Unless you're worried about battery damage from freezing.) Might wanna get the tires off the ground too, if it's gonna be THAT cold! (Better...

    Help! Ls7 number or not

ALL LS7's are built @ Wixom PBC. It doesn't matter if the engines go to Bowling Green for installation into new Corvettes or they go to "stock" as crate engines. The only difference I can glean from the "crate" to the "BG installed" engines is that the crate engines seem to make slightly more...

mumbling noise when turning car ( trying to park car)

Interesting. I have just the opposite problem. When I floor the car and get going really fast (150+,) I hear "WEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!" I can't figure out where it's coming from either!:rotfl

    Nitto Invo Tires

Depends on what you want to do with the car. If you want to get max mileage out of a set of tires (and save a grand,) then you'll want Firestone Wide Oval runflats. (Yes, you can get a set for $1000 out the door, WITH road hazard.) Now, if you track your car, then you may want something...

    Help! Ls7 number or not

Who was the engine built by? Look for a name label on the top (passengerside.)

    120 MPH Crash Test...

I found it fascinating. Watching the car's crumple zones work (even at this tremendous energy level) is always something we can learn from. Sure they're designed to work at much less energy, but they worked somewhat, even @ 120. A speed they were clearly not designed to handle. Are/were they...

    Headlight Cover Damage

Your lenses are suffering from "crazing." This happens when they're heated up or from flexion. The only way to heat them up (internally) is to install higher wattage bulbs inside them. Since your are HID (and are supposed to be "cool" then that's not it. However, you DO have incandescent bulbs...

cutouts on newer vettes 05 and up

Fixed it for ya. No Corvettes have factory remote control exhaust systems. Thee are some aftermarket makers that have remotes though.

cutouts on newer vettes 05 and up

Sorry, just trying to be "cute" with slang. Yes, "cut-outs" can be installed on a C6 for about $1000 from any competant exhaust/muffler shop. Your car will "pop" on decel, unless you get it tuned after the install.

    Electrical Gremlins

Tuna, glad to hear you are back up and running! If memory serves, your warranty work is covered by a 12 month add'l warranty, since it was performed by an authorized GM repair facility. Also, it's my dealership's policy to "NOT WASH" any Corvette after work is done, (they make a special point...
