I have to ask WHY remove the entire system also? You a glutton for punishment? In the summer these cars get HOT on the interior and as JohnZ pointed out if you remove the entire system you also won't have heat and defrost in colder months.
In another thread you were taling about changes to the...
why not stick with the stock water pump? The stock units work great.
The 180º t-stat is perfect
forget the flex-fan! flex fans tend to break and distinagrate and take large chunks of fiberglass with them when they go. I'd stick with the stock fanblade and fanclutch.
On the shroud, it will not...
Brian, thanks for the suggestion. That's just what I did and found that Volunteer Vette has the part for only $26. Just what we need
Mike, I sent you the link to the part from Volunteer Vette. They actually have it as just a 2" spacer unit which is exactly what we need and for only $26 which...

no problem. We didn't stay too long yesterday anyway. We only were there from 9am to about 1pm.
Next week will probably be a longer day as we really need to get a LOT done and hopefully even get to see about trying to fire up the motor and see if this car will run again and move on it's...
Hi John
thanks for the info. This is the '80 frame replacement project car you have seen me post about. I wasn't sure if ANY 2" heat riser would work or not. All we are going to do is gut it anyway to make it into a 2" spacer unit so it doesn't matter if it's vacuum actuated like the stock unit...
hi all
it's been a few weeks but finally time for an update.
Because of our clubs annual car show 2 weeks ago and than other obligations by most of us last week it's been a few weeks since we have been able to work on the car but this weekend we got some more accomplished.
Yesterday (Saturday)...
you are referring to limiting the amount of vacuum advance you are getting?
if so, why use a "bandaid" fix like this limiter plate? Just install a new can that comes in at 2" HG below the vacuum level your motor produces at idle and that has the amount of advance that you want.
you can see a...
Chewie was only the supervisor for last week. It was great weather, warm but not too hot, and while we were working on the car I figured I'd let him come out and play too instead of being stuck inside the house at home all alone. The house we are working at has 3 acres for him to run and sniff...
I hope so Mac, that was one of the main reasons we did this. He had gotten screwed by the seller of the car so we hoped to show him a more positive side of the corvette community.
Hi Andre
been wondering where you have been at!
no, no laser trick, thisa is the first I've heard of it. For alignment all we are going to do is eyeball it as best we can and than get it to the alignment shop. It should be an "interesting" drive there to say the least! ;LOL
we did end up...
yep, it's a car again in one piece rather than two......... :)
it sure feels good nearing the end and being able to start to see the finish line from here.
It will sure be interesting on the first test drive to see just how bad the front and rear alignment is out. It's going to need to get...
after three months of work on Sundays we finally got the body dropped back down on the replacement frame today!
there were a few things to do beforehand such as last minute installs of the vacuum cannister, a new lower speedo cable plus double checking pretty much every nut, bolt, and screw on...

Horseless Carriage (owner is a collector), Reliable, Intercity, or FedX/Passport all have very good reputations.
Now, just get that car home already!
Bernie
thanks, will do. I'll send out an email next week about next Sunday when we will be working on it again.
the OC, NJ show info is here- it's one of our favorite shows. I think we are taking both Vettes down for it. follow the link below and than click the link for the show flyer for...
Bernie!!
I've been thinking about you all week and was wondering how the car was and if you managed to get her home. i'm sorry to hear of all the problems and that the car is still so far away.
Did you end up just flying home?
Arrange a Classic Car transport company to pick it up and ship it...
thanks guys! :)
it sure feels good to be so close to getting the body back on again after all these months.
Andy, the camera is some Fuji point & shoot digital model. It does a decent job but isn't anything fancy.
The 1Barrypower is VERY sluggish off the line. :)
another good day on the project.
Got the drive shaft installed along with the top of the spare tire carrier and gas tank, new master cylinder and new coolant control valve.
Most important we finally got the rear bumper mount brackets repaired and straightened out. The frame we are using must...

most of the front and rear suspension has all been rebuilt or is new.
Van Steel donated the rebuild services on the t-arms, strut rods, and halfshafts plus donated a new fiberglass leaf spring and Muskegon Brakes donated a complete "Super Brake Kit" consisting of 4 calipers, brake pads...
