    67 L-79 Alternator pulley question?

I am having problems with what NCRS and the 67 AIM shows as the proper alternator pulley for my L-79, P/S no A/c car. According to the books, it takes a pulley/fan combo assembly # 3875968AW. I have this unit and it is a small diameter pulley and not deep groove. The water pump pulley is deep, I...

    altenator for a/c car

kenbrunomotorsports.com can boost your original unit up to 80 amps. You may go this route and keep things original. That should give you another 20 amps. Do your fans pull more than 20 amps?? Kurt

    c-2 Radio/Speaker Problem

I found an interesting article in a NCRS publication that warned about replacement speakers that had the wrong total resistance. Mine had .6 ohms. I just bought it from L.I. Corvette. Today, I called them and they were quick to tell me that the article was all wrong and these speakers are fine...

    c-2 Radio/Speaker Problem

I guess I don't understand... The .25 ohm coil is wired across the circuit so that when you measure resistance you get less than 4 ohms (the speaker itself is 4 ohms). If the unit must have 8 to 10 ohms, this is a problem. I would think the coil should be a 4-5 ohm unit wires in series( one side...

    c-2 Radio/Speaker Problem

I replaced the speaker in my 67 with a unit from LI corvette. The sound is not good, kind of distorted... When I tested the resistance, I had none. The transformer is wired to the speaker in parellel not series, strange??? I cut out the transformer now I have 4.4 ohms. the transformer is .25...

I may sell my Original 79, am I nuts?

Missouri allows 1000 miles per year. It is to go to shows for the most part, not for daily driving. It has to be 25 years old to qualify. This will allow you to pass on emission tests and safety inspections. With my car sitting so much, I was always allowing the inspections to expire. The 1000...

I may sell my Original 79, am I nuts?

L82Dan, I recently showed my 79 to a local guy who is big into NCRS. Like you, He feels the car will be worth more if judged by NCRS. You are smart to have this done. I am hoping some day these cars will come into their own. Prices of pre 74 cars are getting to the point where our cars may be...

    Alternator dating question

I called Pirkle this past week. He had no 696 units for my June built car. He did put me on a waiting list??? How about Ken Bruno Motorsports?? He has restored units. I talked to him also, sounded like he does quality restorations... Anyone have feedback on his units? Kurt

    Alternator dating question

I am in need of a 696 alternator for my 67 Vette. The car was built 6/21/67. What would be the date I would be looking for?? I know 180 days prior will pass NCRS. What would be the most accurate?? I did find a 7c23, which seems a bit too early.. Thanks, Kurt

    C2 - Holley 3810 Advice

67ragtop, I just went thru the same thing on my 67. I had fuel standing in the intake and saw it leaking out the secondary throttle shaft. It would also make an mess on the intake, stains running down the sides.. Only after the car sat after a hot-soak. I went and got a set of gaskets for both...

    Question About 4 Post Lifts??

I am in the process of installing a 4 post lift in my garage, and am concerned about what effect the floor slope has on the lift?? When I purchased the lift (Autolifters), I asked the company about the slope issue. They said as long as my floor was within 1" drop in 12', I would be OK... I guess...

    I need help with a 79 antenna

I need to know if there is a way to identify a date code on a 79 power antenna. I found one with the proper part # and year stamp (79), another number on the motor is 290. Could this be some sort of date code?? If any of you have original power units on your cars, I would be interested what #'s...

    Frame replacement

Mike, I have a driver too. I will at some point pull the body and repair the frame. D&A Corvettes in Illinois gave me a price (over phone) of $4000 to repair. I see Zip Corvettes has new frames for $3995. I would be interested in how close they are to the originals? Would replacing the frames...

    Frame replacement

I too may be in the market for a new frame or frame repairs. Do they look like the originals? I would think value of the car would be hurt if a new frame was used. There is a guy in Illinois that will repair frames using a jig for $3000-$4000. Zip products sells frames too. Kurt

I may sell my Original 79, am I nuts?

For me to cut loose of this car, I would want over $20000. Original paint (very nice yet), original interior (mint). Still have the original Goodyear Radial GT tires stored in basement (good tread). Original radio. I did add spoilers (GM to car within a year of ownership). I have the bill of...

    T.I. Ignition failure, 67

This week on the way to work, the T.I. module went out on my 67. I took it apart and found moisture in the case, most likely causing the failure. The transistors are GM parts without any #s that will tell me what their specs are. Has any of you guys ever repaired the module, and what...

I may sell my Original 79, am I nuts?

I wish I could add a garage...That would be the simple fix. I have a small lot and not enough room for expansion. Maybe a different home??? The problem is, I have kind of lost interest in the car. As time went on and I had the space, it was easy to just park it and forget it. I worked for a...

I may sell my Original 79, am I nuts?

I still have a 1979 L-48, 4 speed car I bought new in 3/79. Has 37,xxx miles. It has the original paint, interior and even kept the original tires. I think it has had only one hose and one belt replaced. Dark green/Beige interior. I ordered the car new and kept all the paperwork. Here is my...

Proper heads for late 67 L-79???

JohnZ. Yes, the stamp says V0620HT and 7121392. K07 is the body build date, and A2183. Smith body.. I figured the final assy as 6/21 or 6/22. Flint must have shipped the engine to St Louis and was installed the next day. I guess that is what the factory calls "Just in time delivery". Kurt
