Having trouble removing front brake caliper. I have the shop manual but not real detailed on what needs to be removed in order to remove caliper. My front rotor needs to be replaced. It's out of specs. at .009''.
So, I plan to finally check rotor runout this weekend. If it exceeds .005'' then replace the rotor? If rotor is whithin .005'' then just replace the brake pads and bed them in properly, right? I'm also curious as to adjusting the parking brake. I will follow the procedures that the shop manual...
I'm certain others here will respond to this question as I would be speculating. My guess would be the valve stem seal. Oil leaking past the valve into the cylinder fouling the spark plug.
Stock Cylinder Heads or something newer? If they are newer Cylinder Heads then the manufacureres web site should have a specs page where it will reference or suggest what spark plugs to use. Spark plugs come in different lengths and heat ranges which definitely have an impact on performance...
Tapping on the calipers with a rubber mallet while bleeding will help release some trapped air. So both rear calipers are not working? As Mike mentions, most of the braking is done up front. Any leaks or parking brake light on?
I have no experience with a '73 but I will give this a shot as I have replaced my vapor canister in my '79 a couple of years ago. Basically the fuel vapor from the fuel tank is circulated through the vapor canister and back to the QJet to be re-burned. Part of the emissions process. I think if...
Really love the color combo, Hib. Great looking Vette! Someone is sure to purchase a well rounded and functional BB. Sorry to see it go from the family. Good luck with your endeavors...
Just as mkapp said. Be very careful with the light on top of the gauge cluster. Good time for a cleaning or to repair anything else while you have that center gauge cluster out.
I want to know if the Holley 650 CFM Four Barrel Street Carburetor
PART #: 0-80555C is a worthy replacement for the QJet. Does it perform well when installed? What, if any, adjustments need to be made when installed and are there any other parts needed to install the carburetor? I need some real...
I am waiting to hear back from them again. I have power and it is grounded. The other issue in question with the secondary throttle blades sticking completely open after driving it is a more pressing issue. One would think there wouldn't be these serious types of issues after spending a crap...
I sent two QJet’s to the Barker Gang Garage for them to pick one to be rebuilt. They chose the original QJet from my ’79 Corvette. I had asked them to convert the hot air choke to an electric choke assembly as I did a complete top-end rebuild two years ago and removed the hot air choke and...
Anyone ever had any work done to their QJet by Dennis Barker from the Barker Gang Garage? Interested in his work and what they do.

Rotor runout is one of my tasks this spring or early summer as I never got around to doing it last year. I have new rotors and pads as well as the guage to check rotor runout. Hopefully I'm within specs and I'll just replace the pads.
