I'm currently running straight plug heads on my 89, and the plugs are extremely close to the header. I see the 84 had straight plug heads so I believe the headers will give me some extra clearance.
I can get these on ebay but those look to be too expensive. This is not a show car I just...
Why did you replace the ECM? Need a little more info.
I struggled with the VATS on my car whenever one won't start I immediately think of that as a possible issue.
On my 89 (which had not been on the road for 10 years or more before I got it this year) I replaced the brake hoses on all four corners and the fluid only to find the brake booster and master cylinder were bad.
Brake fluid is not expensive I advocate putting it on a maintenance schedule. For...
There is another choice. Since these are top fill you could remove the fuel sending unit and clean the tank through the opening. I had a total mess in my tank the prior owner left the fuel sending unit unbolted with the fuel door off and water got in the tank. Took quite a while to get all...
Wow I have not posted here in quite a while. Thanks to all who replied to my thread back in the day. It took a while back then but I did sell the car in March of 2009. A couple years later I got into hobby endurance road racing and proceeded to liquidate all my Corvette inventory and 98% of...
I'm interested in buying an early C4. I live in northeast Ohio where salt is used in the winter, and I have seen what it can do to a car.
Is rust an issue on these cars, and if so where? Obviously the outside panels won't rust. My searches did not locate a satisfactory answer.
Thanks
I tried listing my C3 on ebay. Twice with reserve and bidding went to $6500 once and $6000 the second time. Sold it last week for $7500 from craigslist (I was asking $8400). Your car looks very presentable in the pics - maybe having someone see it would do better than ebay.
I tried all kinds...
I could start ranting about separating the original engine from the car. You know in about 50 years this car would be worth a lot more with the original engine....
Really though I think the engine is probably worth a little more than the tranny, maybe $450/$250. Just thinkin out loud...
relevance: cat, headers, duals. Carb maybe.
No one has mentioned ignition. A 78 still has mechanical advance, so you can get lighter weight springs to get it to dome in sooner. Also timing - bump it up four more degrees before TDC. I am not certain this increases horsepower, but it brings...
If GM buys Chrysler and dumps GMAC, they will be ahead of Toyota in sales. If GM buys Chrysler then goes bankrupt, they will just reogranize and come out - ahead of Toyota in sales.
OK just re-read your post about the pressure problem, and somehow I conveniently skipped all the parts that indicated too much fuel pressure. Retracting vacuum comments.
Nice work
Maybe your vaccuum advance is not working properly. Try disconnecting it and adjusting the idle up to compensate, then see what happens. It might not idle as smooth, but should be consistent.
Also maybe the centrigual advance in the distributor is hanging up a little.
Maybe it is possessed, maybe not.
But it definitely is old. As we all know, old cars need work. Hopefullly it won't be a big deal to fix once you get to working on it.
Don't know if you ran it or not since you cleaned the carb, but sounds to me like you should probably drain the tank and start over with fresh gas. You could have a bunch of junk in the tank and have to go through this hassle several more times, well at least replacing the filter a few more...
Thanks for the advice. I started with their website and bought the package to do 8 weeks on the web and 1 Corvette trader book - national circulation (can I name the website/book here?). So they were soliciting me for extra services - but I had to buy it before they went to print of course. I...
I am interested in opinions about how long it took to sell a C3, and what you did to sell it (newpaper ad, hang a sign, swap meet, online, whatever).
Some guy trying to sell me online advertising said statistics show it is about a 90 day process for classic cars, but of course he wants me to...
