Have any of you guys had failures of the silverstar. I read that their average lifespan is the equivalent of 1 year of average use. At least that was the information put out by the manufacturer.

Are you sure you have chrome wheels? I mean could the damage you see be that the coating placed on the polished aluminiun is wearing off and the aluminiun is being oxidixed?
Wait till you use it, you will ask yourself why you did not get it before. It has to be one of the most useful gadgets specially when some idiot parks next to you and the curved glass in your door hinders you getting in the car.
I have been using clay bar for years in my other cars. It removes all the grime that gets embedded in the paint and you can not see. This embedded grime prevents your paint from breathing and the wax from bringing out the maximum shine. The best part is that it does not strip paint off.
