Make sure the clutch shaft is lubed. I just had to replace the clutch shaft bracket on mine. Talk about a pain! My shifts a lot better now once I adjusted everything.
I'm also having issues with my tops as they are coming apart. The glass is pulling away from the hardware. I've tried a couple different types of adhesives with no luck. Due to the fact that I'm a corvette owner on a budget and paying 1000's plus for new tops is not an option. I found this...
I replaced the E4ME carb last night with a rebuilt one i bought at international carburator. I have an issue when you get down on it the throttle wants to stick at around 3000rpm and you have to shut the key off to get it idle back down. Does anyone know if any adjustments that need to be done...
I pulled the ECM out again this morning and reseated the PROM. Problem Solved!!!:) She's running like a champ now!!! Thanks for all your help guys. I'm sure glad we have this forum to help a newbies like me. Thanks agian.
Ok, I worked most of the day cleaning electrical connections and replacing the O2 sensor with no luck. I guess its time for the carb to be rebuilt. Sensei do you know anybody in Jacksonville that could rebuild a E4ME? I can swing by autozone again :) (I'm starting to become a regular) and...
Thanks for the tips guys. I'll work on cleaning all of the electrical connections and take a look at the O2 sensor tomorrow. This car has worked me over today. What's bothering me is I can't get any codes to flash. I feel like I'm shooting in the dark here.
Thanks,
P. Martin
I replaced the ECM and PROM today but the check engine light is still on. I did make some progress today because the car will now start and run when the wiring from the distributor to the ECM is connected. Which it would not do before I replaced the ECM. I tried to jump together the D&E...
I've had the car for a year and just got it road worthy last weekend (it had no interior but ran when i bought it). So i go out for about a 15 mile ride and everything is good. Then turn around to make the trip home and it just started missing and running really rough. I new it was running...
I found out that the previous owner unplugged the ECM and when I plug it in the car just dies and will not start. Any ideas where I should start? Do I go ahead and replace the ECM? I found out that NAPA has them rebuilt for around 100 bucks. Does anyone know what sensors commonly go bad?
Once again my 81 is running way to rich. :confused This carb is driving me nuts. What would be the side effects if I moved to a different Carb than the E4ME? Please advise...
