    wheel alignment question

You posted in the Z06 section. If the car is indeed a C5 Z06, they're notorious for wearing out the inside edge of the fronts due to increased negative camber spec (over non-Z06 vettes). IIRC, the coupe/vert setting is pretty neutral, so unless you use those settings with the replacement tires...

    paddle shifters

Based on the '07 A6, I have several problems with the design. 1) You don't select gears- you request them. The hardware and software decide when you get them. We don't always agree. 2) On acceleration, the transmission runs through every gear all the time. With the immense torque of the...

05`s Vettes Camaro Nose will be Gone

Arguing about whether cars look 'alike' is pointless since everyone has a different threshold/degree as to how much resemblance is necessary in order to qualify for 'alike.' The C6 is a derivative, contemporary design. As Hill said in an article, "The GM design department was interested in...

    How to clean cotton cloths?

Liquid fabric softeners in moderation can be useful, particularly if you're drying the car with a blower. You may (or may not) lose some absorbancy, but I'd rather have to use an additional towel and have soft fabric on the finish all the time. If you notice a difference when you dry yourself...

    Any dealers under MSRP?

Rick may well have been one of them. If there's nothing here, try the CF archives. Sorry, I can't tell you what section, but there have been posts (not necessarily initial/titled posts) on the subject. If I see anything current while surfing, I'll link it here.

    Buying a 2005 C6

I think your dealer is trying to scare you into taking a deal that is not to your advantage. Whether it's worthwhile to make a little more money trying to sell it privately is a subjective question, but shop around. Every dealer is different, particularly if you get away from your local area...

    Any dealers under MSRP?

There were posts on various forums earlier this year that some dealers were slightly discounting the cars. I think it was in the $1000-1500 range. Seach the archives. Prices always vary dramatically nationwide, and if you are not opposed to researching dealers and travelling to get a car, you...

    C6 Wheels

No pics, but the polished wheels and spokes appear significantly less massive in person than the non-polished. YMMV.

    66 coupe sometimes too hot

You might double-check the coolant level. An air bubble in the cooling system would do that.

    Wow!

FWIW, electron blue was used only during the 2002- 2003 years and thereafter replaced with the slightly darker Le Mans Blue. LMB continues to be used on the C6.

    C4 advantages over C5?

It depends on what you want to do; they're both entirely different cars. Only the name is the same. FWIW, the biggest difference to me is that the C5 wheelbase is 8 inches longer which makes it less suitable for autocross, but better for ride and road courses. They're both great cars- just...

    steering firmness in C4's

AFAIK, the steering is unchanged on the models you're considering and have driven. They're all 16 to 1. Assuming the alignment's ok, tires and tire pressures can make a major difference in the way the car responds and feels. That's the most likely culprit. No quick steers in the '90's, iirc...

    2005 C6

Last time I heard, the sales cars were supposed to start being built on 7/19 and should begin being delivered by early August. As for when you could get one, that would depend on whether the dealer had sold their allotment and how much you wanted to pay. FWIW.

    Z06 Dreaming

I know exactly what you mean. I'll try to keep it short. It's not related to the number of turns lock to lock. The '84-'89 Z51/Z52 steering gear ratio is 13.3 to 1, and the standard C4/C5/C6 steering ratio is 16.1 to 1. With the standard steering, you have to turn the wheel 20 percent...

    Z06 Dreaming

The other way of looking at it is that despite the discounts, they'll cost even less as used cars as the years go by, and they'll be around for a long time. Due to the slow steering, gratuitously large steering wheel and some turn-in qualities, I'm not entirely happy with the car, but I'd...

    Z06 Dreaming

The C6 plate issue is real. I was at Bowling Green when GM reluctantly debuted it. Give your wife the '84... Be sure to drive the Z extensively before purchasing one in order to avoid surprises, particularly as regards the handling. The steering and platform response are nothing like the...

    Blow dry

Dunno. The Toro I've got claims 215mph and was about US$50. It's adequate and works best if used without any of the attachments. I can't say they fully dry the car, but they get the recesses, and what's left can be done with a light wipe using one towel that will barely be wet when finished.

    Z06 Dreaming

If you purchase a new vette, regardless of type, I'd suggest keeping your '84 at least until you've had it a month or so. Frankly, it isn't worth much even sold privately, and you may find it has qualities that are not replaceable. You might want to keep both. The C5 Z06 is a significant...

    Assembly Plant Tours

That's the 'concurrent build' of which I spoke. The C6's use a different towveyor, but they're sequenced in intermittently, and the parts to assemble them are at the work stations tagged or in bins with hot pink labels to keep them from being mistaken for C5 parts. Again, these are part of the...
