After reading several posts concerning our sticky air bag covers, I tried several suggested products with no success. I decided to try Lacquer thinner. Not being sure of the outcome I used it on an inconspicuous area of the cover and it was working great.

I have a set of C5 exhaust tips that are in really fine shape with C5 logo embossed on them made of heavy chrome with a rolled edge. My other set is on my 1998 coupe seen here. These tips clamp on to the exhaust pipe. Stock tips must be removed first. I ground mine off at the weld points with an...
In addition.
While your'e are at it you might want to attach a quick disconnect Battery Tender terminal. Makes it really easy to plug in and stay charged.

iPod mod
About two months ago I bought the "Double D Mod" iPod kit for my 1998 coupe directly from Double D. I had a working 12 CD changer in the trunk but every little bump I hit the CD would skip. With the included adapter cable the Double D Mod control box plugged right into the connector...
Tire paint
Many years ago I painted the lettering on my Firestone Red Line Wide Ovals with a good quality white latex paint. It stayed on there until I tossed the tires at 25k miles. (That was good mileage then).
Paint 'em if you like 'em, it's your car.
Keep 'em rollin'! :W

Battery
I bought a new Duracell battery in the appropriate size and CCAs from Sam's Club this past spring -- $99 plus tax plus recycle charge and out the door for about $120. Maintenance free so no chance of drips down into the electrics below the tray. I keep in on a Battery Tender Jr. when...
Diagnosis
Hib,
Yes, I have the 98 FSMs books 1,2,3.
I read through the diagnostics, (Book 3 -- pages 6-629 through 6-631), and do not have a scan tool but have been listening for the pump to turn on and off which it does. So I would assume that the pump relay, fuse and ground are all good...
Same thing
Thank you for that information as I am about to do the same thing.
I have been getting the good ol' P0410 code as well for the last three months and have tried the usual fixes, WD-40, Seafoam, and whatever sprayed into the tubes to try and free up the passenger side AIR valve and...
AIR Check Valve update
So far here is what I have tried without success;
1. Sprayed PB Blaster with compressed air into the AIR tube from the driver's side on three different occasions and tapped valve with a metal rod and small hammer each time.
2. Sprayed Sea Foam Deep Creep with compressed...
AIR check valve
I gave the AIR valve a good soaking with PB blaster while blowing it in to the tube on the driver's side then let it stand for 5 hours. Tapped the valve from the driver's side with a hammer and a metal rod a few times. Took her out for a ride to burn off the PB Blaster but the...
GMJunkie,
I've got PB Blaster as well so I'll try it.
Do I shoot it through the Driver's side tubing with compressed air as I did before ?
I am not able to see the passenger side AIR valve from under the hood to get at it for a few taps as LLC5 suggested, could be these aging eyes. I have a 4...
Yes, a little tapping might free it up. Good thinking I'll give it a try when I get a chance.
I was thinking of trying Seafoam Deep Creep Spray this time around.
Thanks.
Bill
Yep, I tried the WD-40 with compressed air routine three times without success so I guess the valve is really corroded shut. From the looks of the driver's side valve when I took it out I'd say the passenger side valve is in "Permanent failure mode".
Thanks.
Bill
Does anyone have a link to the step by step procedure for replacing the passenger's side AIR check valve?
I do not want the re-route procedure where the tubing is cut and a new valve installed in a convenient place. I'd like to keep my car as original as possible.
I'm thinking ahead for a...
Read
I'm not too bad figuring out schematics and have two friends that were in the electronics field as backup not to mention my amateur radio club members. A lot of those guys know way more than I do.
My problem is to make the time to check it out.
Thanks J-Man.

Compliments
Great stories guys, keep them coming. The folks in the Northeast need something to read and remind them warmer weather is on its way.
Look at it as a PSA, Public Service Announcement. (Ha, and you thought it was a protein test)
