GM Corvette problems - Please Help

Sadly, the only changes since at least the '80s is the calendar. This is not unique to GM as I experienced the same with a new [venerable] Subaru Outback we bought new, then sold back under the lemon law. Once, contact with GM's Zone office would help. I've had 9 Corvettes and recently have...

    Electrical issues

I had a few weird C5 issues and found a thread in this section that detailed the locations of the ground point, 17 or so. As recommended, I cleaned up the easy to find ones and all issues cleared; never recurred.

    Stunning Tri-Black '02 Convertible Calif Car $17900

Once in a great while a car appears that is an obvious BUY!! (even before a drive) This gorgeous Triple Black (15%) Corvette Convertible is a visual stunner; all stock but for (recent) wheels/tires/brakes (way more appealing). Nittos: 18" front, 19" rear, upsized 1"; calipers powder coated...

Review: American-made Corvette Z06 stands up to the best supercars on the planet

US engineering = World class Perhaps Americans will again to realize the value and quality of American products, versus the loudly touted, and fictional, IMO, foreign items. After poor ownership experiences with three widely varied German products (BMW, Grohe, and gmx mail), they're voted off...

    Erratic Idle

I am still a fan of using a vacuum gauge as a basic troubleshooting tool (old school). Much of the engine is electrically controlled, vacuum operated so all those old rubber hoses..... well, you know. The ECM not knoweth all, as you surmise. Unmetered air will cause a variable idle as the ECM...

    1985 Corvette Electric Fan Problem

Early '85 fans were not controlled by the ECM, ala the '84s. The relay is identical to the O/D and FP relays for swapping/testing. I have seen sticky contacts not allowing a relay to open (had hook-shapes on the contacts, which a light filing removed).

    Help! 1995 computer problem

Frankly, I think the shop is spouting BS and should not touch that car! The stealers I'd dealt with take a week before they are finished getting my pristine Corvette all filthy... outside, then cannot fix the car or even drive to see IF they did. Chevy or not, they may neither be experts nor...

    Question: Arco gas????

The base product is not what we purchase, however. The added-to product is, so the amount and effectiveness of that blend is what changes. Even so, the fuels are regional and seasonal. I vividly recall driving my stock Vette back from Colorado. The last fill outside California delivered...

    News: A/C switch lessons - early C4

Yes, on the Corvette. The second replacement switch is N.O. Thanks, Roy. I got it. I am using that (the first switch I bought) as intended, on the F100's Vette driveline and will wire it so the fan (C4) runs when the A/C clutch is activated. :w

    Help! Water Pump

I don';t have that engine but is there a hose routing diagram under the hood? If the engine is getting unmetered air, via that hose, I'd say the running would suck!

    News: A/C switch lessons - early C4

It was rather easy to install the switch, shown here: Once, that is, the rubber hoses were out of the way. :w That yellow thing is a bright LED flashlight that has a magnetic clip for pockets and other things. It also swivels and is one of the handiest lights I own.

Question: New to me 93 ZR1 Corvette very very loud

I mostly like the Flowmasters on mine but 1) they got louder with age, and 2) are louder than most, including me, prefer. I cannot sneak in/out anywhere! Yeah, welcome to THAT club, too!:w

    Question: Oil brand?

FWIW, I have made these for decades, with great result, from a plastic discard bottle. It is lots easier and much prettier, with once of those gasket-making punch kits. Not all filters come with new seals and my plastics do well when reused. Better results come from thicker bottles, not milk...

    News: A/C switch lessons - early C4

Here's what I learned: My '84 is an early production, Z51 car; January. HotRodRoy's is a month later. The A/C in mine has been inop and mostly removed for years as mods were done, then refined. Recently, things went so well, under ZFDoc's care, that I had new A/C components sent to him for...
