Help! Protective door strip and wheels

I REALLY wanted a C5 without the door strip. But, otherwise, this car was perfect. Surprisingly, after a year, I'm now not so sure I will remove the strip. Go figure. I've grown to kinda like it. Good luck.

I think I have had enough!!!!

Knock on wood I've been lucky with all my Vettes. However, I had bad luck with a Caddy once back in 1982 and with a Jag 2000 (there's a surprise!!) Friends in the car leasing business taught me many years ago: 1. Never buy new. Let some other guy buy the first big $20,000 - 30,000...

    Question: radar detector

Actually, I didn't take anything you said personally and the only soft spot you hit is the one sensitive to people making absolutely rigid statements and/or misrepresentations to other folks who might not have an in depth understanding of any particular topic. Your telling someone that a unit...

    Question: radar detector

I'm always willing to learn something new, so perhaps you might be willing to enlighten us as to the "gimmicks" you are referencing. In all of the independent testing I have been able to find, Escort 9500iX and Valentine One always test out pretty much the same on x/ka/k band & POP & Laser...

    Question: radar detector

The best?? That is going to be tough to answer. Certainly, there are only a few at the top and it is a subject that some folks get very opinionated about. I guess it depends on what is important to you in terms of features. I would hazard that most folks side with either Valentine or Escort...

Question: Is is necessary to bleed sytem after coolant change?

Thanks. Very informative. That's why the dealer offered to replace the top hose at my request. I'm still talking with them about the implications of all this on the water pump and radiator.

Question: Is is necessary to bleed sytem after coolant change?

As always, thanks for the help. The over filling was the issue. On the plus side the service manager took this all seriously and has offered to replace the top hose and inspect the systen to be sure no damage was done to anything else includint the water pump etc. On the worst idea I ever...

C5 ZO6 Style Chrome Wheels & Tires For Sale

I don't know if I agree. Those Crays look awfully nice with that yellow vert. But then C5 Verts just have a way of looking great ... period.

Question: Is is necessary to bleed sytem after coolant change?

I get so tired of these dealer related issues. I bought a new radiator cap this afternoon. Got it home and it's the wrong one. 18 psi instead of 15 psi. Of course! Why do I trust anyone? But, after the system cools down I look into the surge tank reservoir and discover that the dealership...

Many thanks. I will give it a try tonight and report back.

C5 ZO6 Style Chrome Wheels & Tires For Sale

Bump. The wheels are now at our house in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. Need to make room in garage. Wife is losing sense of humor:)

Question: Is is necessary to bleed sytem after coolant change?

Bringing this thread back to life since the problem I have is similar ... I think ... Four months ago I had the local Chevy dealer completely flush the coolant system on my 2002 Vert. I've noticed that I have a problem that may or may not be related to that work. The problem concerns the...

    Active Handling System

For a variety of reasons I recently replaced my 2002 Vert battery with the one recommended in the videos linked to the string referenced above.* AC Delco Professional 78-6yr 700 CCA 120RC #19001632 I only discovered the old battery was completely incorrect after pulling it out...

What tires are you running and why?

Almost went with the PS2s but decided to try the Michelin Pilot Super Sports after reading all the great reviews on many websites. Totally transformed the car. Went from the OEM sized 17" & 18" wheels with Michelin run flats to 18" & 19" wheels with 275/35-18s and 305/30-19s. So, several...

Toyed with a C6 the other day

Technically and mechanically the C6 is superior in a number of ways to the C5, but not hugely so. There are a number of vehicles that talk to my soul including some used Ferraris and Aston Martins that we could afford, but the long term overall costs of those cars compared to my C5 makes it a...

GM's V8 Production Down by Half - Should Next Gen Corvette Adopt a V6 to Keep Up with the Times?

I agree the ZR1 with the supercharged highly modified LS3 (called the LS9) has run out of steam and pretty much only sells with very deep discounts. But, shutting down the ZO6 in the same year would be another huge blunder by Chevy. Yes, they could probably kill the more exotic ZO6/ZO7 along...

    Important! C5 Column Lock debunked

I decided to bump this thread after the problems I experienced getting a new battery this week. The local Chevy dealer gave me three different batteries before finally begrudgingly agreeing to give me the battery shown above. One of the batteries was a 78, one was a 75, one had 850 CCA and 100...

GM's V8 Production Down by Half - Should Next Gen Corvette Adopt a V6 to Keep Up with the Times?

Yes, almost all racing venues are going to smaller engines and even restricting air intakes on existing engine technologies. Why? It generally has little to do with technological breakthroughs in V6 engines. It primarily has to do with making racing safer by restricting top end speed. The...

GM's V8 Production Down by Half - Should Next Gen Corvette Adopt a V6 to Keep Up with the Times?

First, maybe consider losing all the arrogant, anti-Corvette technology hostility. Second, better get some of your facts straight. The whole purpose of high performance sports cars is high performance ... nothing more nothing less. That seems to be lost in even your fundamental premise. As...
