    C 1 Five Speed

Here's a few pics: The trans mount (bottom of car is to the right...); next 4: out for a little repair in 2013; the last is the installation with a correct 57 shift lever & custom 5-spd plate. The 2nd to last pic showing the trans out- there's no mods at all with this unit. It bolts right up to...

    C 1 Five Speed

I put a Richmond Street 5-spd in my 57 in 2002. Only 2 modifications: 1) had to get a fine-spline yoke for the driveshaft (still using the stock driveshaft) & had to fabricate a new trans mount. No other body/chassis modifications at all! Pics are on another computer so I'll try to post 'em...

    Another Bogus 53?

Don't get me started on that one... The Motorama Corvette was EX-52. Though EX-122 may be considered a "53" it was assigned that number in 1957 when it was sold to Russ Sanders (since it didn't have a serial #).

    The Motorhead Lounge is Started!

Well, there was nobody else in the garage (except our garage cat Miss Snot, & she professed complete innocence), & I did it, so I accept responsibility for my cerebral flatulence. The small good news is that one of the old engine's heads had developed a crack between the valves so maybe this was...

    Another Bogus 53?

After looking at the pics a bit closer, I don't see a whole lotta cloth mat that should be everywhere on this car...

    The Motorhead Lounge is Started!

Now working on the next engine swap - mine! (Had a catastrophic engine failure due to a catastrophic brain failure - changed the filter & lubed all 24 grease fittings, then forgot to add oil...got about 1 mi down the road.) So, the correct (except for date) 57 2x4 block that's been sitting in...

Question: 1953 Corvette Production. 300 or 315 units built?

No myth about a 53 with a steel hood. It's #1056, I've not only seen it but George McGriff (the GM engineer I mentioned earlier in this post) confirmed it to me in 2003 as he was the one who built it! I have some pics on my laptop that I'll post later.

    5 Speed in C-1

Put a Richmond Street 5-spd in my 57 in 2002. Bolted right on the bellhousing & I still am using the original driveshaft! Had to get a new front yoke/u-joint (large diameter fine spline) and fabricate my own trans mount. knocked a dent in the heat shield to clear the Long shifter 5-R linkage &...

Question: 1953 Corvette Production. 300 or 315 units built?

33 1953 Corvettes were there (the largest single gathering of '53s at that time) and all the folks in the front were original '53 line workers/engineers/etc. They had never been honored before (and apparently Chevy didn't care as their 50th anniversary celebration was in Nashville!??). Well...

Question: 1953 Corvette Production. 300 or 315 units built?

Ralph - First, thank you for arranging the "opening" of the Flint assembly building. When I stood on top of it and took this pic it was the closest thing to a Corvette religious moment I ever had.

Question: 1953 Corvette Production. 300 or 315 units built?

Say hi George if you see him...I had the pleasure of driving him in the SACC 50th anniversary parade in Flint in 2003. Boy did he have some good stories about early production, making that steel hood (that ended up on #56) and how he was taught fiberglass by my good friend Steve Koss (in Parts...

My high school 57 vette update #4

Have you tried contacting Ken Kayser? He's picked up the torch from Mike Hunt who kept the Research Project 56-7 (the original "registry" of 56 & 57 Corvettes) kwkvette57@aol.com If you have the serial # of the car he could tell you if it's been reported... Tell him I sentcha!
