    FS rebuilt 3.08 differential

My 66 got 19 to 20.5 mpg on the highway with 3.08 differential gears, and still had enough torque to just let the clutch out at idle in first gear without stalling. I had this diff rebuilt about 8 years ago for a spare, sealed it in a bag, and boxed it up. The rebuilder replaced clutches...

    Question: corvette 66 block ?

The only restriction that I have seen is that the Corvette 327cid blocks came from Flint (Fddmmyy) and not Tonawanda Forge and Foundry (Tddmmyy) The date on the engine an the single digit cast date day indicate a Flint block. Other than that, the stamp pad would have to display the serial...

    ethanol gas

I've been using 10% ethanol in my 66 Sting Ray, lawn mower, snow blower, and a series of SUVs for 15 - 20 years with no problems. My lawn mower is 12 years old and the snow blower is 30. I never put stabil in any of them and the gas is always good at seasonal startup. Try using less stabil...

NCRS club (good or bad for the corvette enthusiast)

Just the use of the term "driver" (as opposed to something worthy) is the ncrs attitude that made me quit being a member. I'm a driver. My car is a streetmachine.

Help on carb/electrical - idle and misfire problems

NO I noticed that unlike the fuel that was made in the 60s, todays fuel boils up and smells up the whole garage when you park, but that also makes it light up better when the engine is cold and run a cold engine without a choke. I set my AFR by changing the AFB jets to the leanest mix my...

Help on carb/electrical - idle and misfire problems

Due to reformulated fuel, I locked the choke at full lean on my AFB at least 10 years ago. The car always starts and runs, easily even in below zero weather with just a couple of pumps on the accelerator pedal. I also believe that ignition is the fault with timing advance problems. Make sure...

    Survey 63 vs 66

the 63 has a lot of 1 year only parts on it that are expensive to replace and/or hard to find - only really important if the car is not complete or will be driven a lot and you want it to look and drive at its best

How do you check the temp gauge?

if an unprotected sender wire is laying on the intake msnifold heat riser crossover, it will transmit the heat to the sender as well as the electrons from the gauge.

Question: How do I align radiator core support and fenders?

Unless you added shims under the rad support, my guess is that the front end is sagging due to getting no support from the rad support - it does weigh quite a bit

Help! Upgraded to a HEI, Now I've got some noise in the radio

the ground has nothing to do with it the hei and the wires need to be fully shielded in a plastic car if that doesn't do it, your stereo will need a noise suppressor added to the 12volt power supply from the accessory line of the key switch

    Ok, its official...

check your speed at 1000 in 4th gear, then bring the car up to that mph in 1st gear. The tach shoud read about 2200rpm or 2500 rpm depending on the 1st gear ratio. PS: the same applies to a trans out of the car - just twist the tailshaft 1 rev with the trans in 1st and the input shaft will...
