Help! Upgraded to a HEI, Now I've got some noise in the radio

I didn't have any radio noise untill I changed to an HEI. The radio is not grounded to the engine, would that make any diffrence? The car is a 62 with aftermarket radio.
 
the ground has nothing to do with it

the hei and the wires need to be fully shielded in a plastic car

if that doesn't do it, your stereo will need a noise suppressor added to the 12volt power supply from the accessory line of the key switch
 
I realized after asking the question that the problem is by switching to the HEI I can't use the stock chrome sheld, and thats why the noise started. I'm going to buy a noise filter and see if that takes care of it. Your right, thanks for the reply. Next time I will think it thru before I ask a stupid question :chuckle
