New member here,my first post. I own a '96 LT1 with bolt on exhaust, PCM reprogrammed, cut lid with completely stock internals. I've been thinking about installing 1.6 rockers and springs ,the increased lift sounds liked good bang for the buck-without replacing the camshaft.

I seem to remember either reading a magazine article or online about using ( I think I'm correct here, but may be backwards though) 1.6 0n the intakes and 1.5 on the exhaust. Is there anyone who has tried either way/or both ways on a stock LT1? I'm looking for some feedback before making my purchase. Thanks in advance guys !!

I put 1.6's on my otherwise stock LT1, I think that it might rev a little bit quicker, but all in all I really didn't get that "kick in the butt" I was expecting (hoping for).

I've read that they are worth 15-20 hp, if I got that I really didn't notice.

On a stock LT1, going from the stock 1.5 to 1.6s, you'll see 8-12 hp.

It's an easy swap too, just use the stock rockers off an LT4. They'll bolt right on and they're available from GM.

The stock LT4 rocker assemblies were manufactured by Crane. Mine are a yellowish-gold anodized color. I do not know if the OEM replacements or the aftermarket rockers are the same color.

I mention this only because when you remove the oil fill cap, you can see them and they look totally awesome! :thumb

NOW COULD SOMEONE PLEASE SAVE THE :w

It's interesting that a production LT4 has Crane gold race rockers. It is true that Crane made the LT4 rockers but every OE set I've seen--admittedly they were on early cars--were naked aluminum.

That said, there were two TSBs on the 1.6 rockers and a lot of sets were replaced on warranty. It could be that some OE sets were warrantied with the aftermarket versions.

Hib,

I ordered my Vette and the production number is 14,738.

From early 1995 all the way to the time I ordered my Vette, I read & researched every word written about the 96s. I did this because I was on the fence about waiting and buying a C5. Back then no one had any idea what the C5 was going to look like. I decided not to take a chance and ordered my Collector Edition. In fact, I waited until the water borne paint system was installed during January 1996. Chevy installed the paint system while the C4 was being produced because they wanted the C5 paint to be perfect.

My Vette came much later than the rocker arm recall. The recall went up to 11,116. My Vette never was involved with the recall.

I will be on a search to find similar rocker assemblies on LT4 engines that I find! :L
