1959 cove spears template / positions

can anyone tell me the positions of the side cove spears on a 1959 vette

my car is not fitted with them but am going to fit is there any template anywhere as to the correct positions for them

were they an option originally , or standard on all cars

why have some cars got them and other not

All 1959 Corvettes originally had the three spears in each cove depression; if they're gone, either a previous owner removed them, or the front end has been replaced and they didn't drill the holes and re-install them.

There's a metal trim plate that goes in the front of the cove depression that has the three holes in it for the front pins on each spear - that plate will locate them for you; this is shown in the 1959 Corvette Assembly Manual, which is the first thing you should buy, along with the Noland Adams Volume I book, an owner's manual, and the ST-12 Shop Manual (1953-62 Corvette Servicing Guide).
