Hello friends.
I am a proud owner of a 1959 Corvette Roadster, s/n J59S106740.
However the car has a 350 chev fitted. I'd like to find out the assembly date of the vehicle, what the original engine, engine pad number as well as casting dates and numbers of the block.
Any information would be greatly appreciated. Living in Tasmania Australia makes the access to resources difficult.

Terry, your car was built approximately April 20, 1959; that's about all you can get from a C1 serial number. There are no production records for any St. Louis-built Corvettes, and C1's didn't have trim tags, so the only way to try and figure out how it was originally built is to look for "clues".

The best way to learn about your Corvette and to get the details of what the "clues" are to look for is to order the NCRS 1958-1960 Corvette Technical Manual & Judging Guide - you can order it on-line from the NCRS Store at www.ncrs.org.

Terry,

Welcome to the Corvette Action Center. If I can answer any questions or ckeck anything against my car let me know. A lot of reading. studying and detective work just might reveal the answers you are looking for. I've owned my '59 since August '69 and I'm still learning new things about it.

Except for the engine swap does your car seem to be mostly original? If so, the answers to a few questions will start to narrow things down..
