Hi! Stuidog or anyone with a 2 X 4 carburetor set up or knowledge about them.

When I purchased my 61 it had a Carter fuel bowl set up and even though I have purchased an AC fuel filter I still use the Carter. While judging at a NCRS chapter meet I had a chance to judge a 61 245HP 2 X 4 car. It was noted that the fuel filter should be a flat top AC. I have seen a few other 270HP cars that have the Carter fuel filter set up. Does any one have knowledge if a Carter fuel filter was ever used?

Thanks Ray

Hi Ray, Sorry, I can't answer your question as I had to replace my entire fuel line run with repro parts. But you raise a very interesting point. I would also like to know the answer. Good luck.

Nope - all factory 2x4 fuel filters were AC; Carter was strictly aftermarket replacement.

My '61 set has a Carter but also home made fuel lines. :eyerole Not a good reference. My '56 set that's has been on the '59 since '71 has an AC flat top. I also have an AC round top on the shelf that appears to be the same as the one in Noland's book for the '56. I can also see one in the book that doesn't look as domed as this one. I wonder how many variations of the AC were used over the years.

Thanks to all!
