I am looking at a numbers matching SWC. Accoring to trim tags it was Sebring Silver exterior, but unable to determine true interior color. Near "STYLE TRIM" I read the "63 837" and below that is "490C". The car currently has red interior. Is this correct?

The car is in poor condition, the body panels and gaps are in pretty good shape. I can see some rust holes in the rear. The car is currently white, and will need to be completely striped and repainted. The interior needs to be cleaned up, chrome has some problems. The asking price is $25K.

Does this seem fair, or on the hight side?

490C - Red Vinyl - so correct

$25K is high - would expect to pay that with a car in good running condition not one that needs at least $10K work!!!!!!

More info on car

Thanks for your reply. I too think the price is a bit too high. The car does have the original 327/300 engine, yet it does not run. It is also an automatic.

What would you think a fair price for the car would be? Is there a web resource to what these cars should cost, fair market price considering condition?

Max welcome to the forum

From the september corvette enthusiast magazine price guide

1963 SWC 327 standard motor
fair condtion 18,000
good condtion 23,300
excellent condtion 50,075

A note explaing there catagories
fair is a # 4 car
good is a # 3 car
excellent is a #2 car

The car does have the original 327/300 engine

I am not sure if your into vettes but with corvettes the part numbers and date codes on the motor block and engine parts have alot to do with the value of the car.

Also you had mentioned some rust, We have a member wright now in the midst of repairing/replaceing a rusted frame Use caution on purchasing a rusted vette there are hidden spots that they rust also in the bird cage.
Lastley my only advice I can give to anyone purchasing a collector car is buy the most car you can afford. Its cheaper to purchase a car completely done then it will cost you to take a poor quaility car to the same level

Good Luck and once again welcome
