Cool story. I was born in Danville IL. and lived in Oakwood, IL. and also went Oakwood Township High School. I do remember the Steak N Shake on Main St. as well as the Dairy Bar in Hillery, between Oakwood and Danville and the the other places as well in Danille to hang out. Sorry to say I do not know the Dan Owens family from Oakwood. I left Oakwood the day after getting out of High School in May of 1971, knowing that there was nothing there or in Danville to hold my intrest. I do remember Songer Chevrolet and still know several people in Oakwood that I went to School with. I was in Oakwood last November to put my Mother to rest beside my Father. I am pretty sure that will be my last trip to Oakwood, IL. It is a very nice little town (back in 71 it had about 850 people) and very peacefull, so hats off to all that live there and if you have owned a Corvette that long in a town that size You Are The Man.
