Would someone tell me the block numbers for the 68 327 block? Was the block manufactured in Flint as is the case for the C2's? Thanks -- Bill

All the numbers and codes you need are in the tech center/model shop links above.

The small block engines were cast and assembled in Flint, same as a midyear.

The casting # for the '68 327 was 3914678 for both the 300hp and the 350hp engines. The Corvette engines were cast and assembled in Flint.

Why..... did you find one? I need one!!!!

There was some places in Hemmings a while back that would sell you a correct built engine for any car. They would also stamp the block if you wanted.I almost went that route but was afraid of someone claiming it was the original engine later on.Im sure this happens everyday but I dont want to be involved in it.I think one of the places was in Arizona.I could find it if anybody wants it.

Not right now, no. I've got a 3814660 with a casting date of D268 in my 65 and have recently purchased the correct block to replace. My son has developed an interest in a 68 vette and I was hopeful my existing block would be correct should we locate his vette w/o an engine or one with an incorrect block. A quick search of the '660 indicated it was used in corvette, camaro, high performance. But as for the vette, this doesn't seem to hold true.

Thanks but I'm with you.... I want the original thing. I'm going to turn my attention to my 68 here fairly soon and will once again begin the daunting search of finding the block. I have all the original components but not the block itself!!! Ugh! Thanks though. :D

I think what you really have is a 3914660, which was used in every car and truck except the Corvette. :)

There is a real '68 Corvette block for sale in the NCRS DriveLine for I think $650 or $700 up in near Cortland, Ohio.
