Since everyone has already answered, I'm sure my opinion is probably unnecessary. If you're comparing a '72 to an '02 I think clearly you need to consider technological advances. The '02 will be an all around nicer car when considering the technology. The interior will be nicer, the engine more reliable, efficient, etc. So really the question is one of aesthetic preference. Personally, I think that after the '82 model (since any 83's were 82's) the corvettes look declined. So appearance wise, i think all of the C3s and earlier were much more beautiful cars. When the rear bumber was rounded from the first C4's I thought chevy might be moving in the right direction, but frankly, I think the 2002 and other C5s were a bad move. I did not like the design at all, especially from the rear. That said, the new vette is a gorgeous car. And I think here in the NY there are quite a few of them on the road, which is a testament to its beautiful design. So that said, one must really like the classic look of the '72 over the technology of the '02.
