Help! 1981 check engine light stays on when key is off

there is no OS.this is as primitive of a computer for a car as you can get....
as it was one of the first years that Chevy/Corvette had them.
behind the passenger seat compartment on the front wall is the computer(Brain) for the vette.
It may be as simple as the lite is grounded out when the power is shut off I would start there in the dash.
