I finally got my automatic choke to work properly, but the choke light remains on even after the choke is fully open. Looking at a diagram there is a choke light "timer." Any idea where this is located? Also, could the choke heater relay be the problem? Any help would be much appreciated!

sometime a bad alternator can cause the choke light to stay on even when it appears it's charging. Not really sure why it does this maybe someone else knows why. But this happened twice on my old 82 LG-4 trans am. After replacing it with a higher dollar rebuilt alternator and a GM remanfactured one the light went out.

maybe not the cause of yours being on but something to look into.
