1981 Documentation (NEW L@@K)

Hi all!

I have embarked upon an exhaustive search in an attempt to locate any and all original GM publication, document, tag, sticker, grease pencil mark, vintage article etc.which is correct for a 1981 Corvette. Has anyone compiled a list of what is out there? Does anyone have anything extra they would barter, sell etc. ?

Follow down the thread for a list of what I have verified exists and please help me complete this list. If you can post a good picture of the item I sure would appreciate it

If you have anything for sale or barter (ESPECIALLY THE PAMPHLETS WHICH CAME WITH THE OWNERS MANUAL)I can be emailed directly @ platato@yahoo.com and thanks for your help!!

GRRRRRRRRT!

Burglar,

I wish you could see me jumpin up and down right now! Not only do I know what was supposed to be there but I have a great pic (hope you don't mind that I saved it) of the pamphlets. You are the man!! This answers a big question that has been bugging me for 5 years. I did contact the L-81 registry, my dream is to have a place we could all go to see a list and pics of EVERYTHING related to the 1981 Corvette. I have a pretty good list compiled and quite a few pics of things like dealer posters, brochures, Corvette News, promos, dealer postcard etc.

Thanks again for posting your reply. Now all I have to do is find the pamphlets. If there's anyone out there that can help, please email me @ platato@yahoo.com or post here

P.S. I kinda stole this from the NCRS thread. It is a compilation of three posts that I thought would be helpful here.....

Jim Mattison, is the individual responsible for setting up the Pontiac Historical Service is leading the project to get the “missing” Corvette records to the public. Jim's company, Automotive Services Corporation (parent company of PHS) was contracted by Chevrolet about two years ago to try and "find the records"; I understand he has made some progress. Muscle Car Review issue, spring 2003, has a progress report on how Jim is doing. I (Platato) Emailed Jim directly and will post his response here!

Update on 1981 documentation

Hello all. This is my first time posting to this forum. I just purchased my 1981 Corvette about a month ago and I love it. It is the 219th one off of the Bowling Green assembly line (beige/bronze two tone with 4-speed). I have now read every thread on this forum! I read with great interest the "1981 Documentation" thread which was started back in 2003, almost 10 years ago. I did not notice anyone comment about the letter from the Bowling Green plant manager asking for owners of early Bowling Green cars to send in their comments about the car. That letter was in my car along with the owner's manual. Has anyone else seen this letter? I wonder when the Bowling Green assembly plant stop placing these letters in the cars. If anyone is interested in seeing a picture of this letter, let me know and I will post a picture.

1st welcome to CAC!!!!
2nd be sure to stop by the L-81 registry and register your '81!!!!
The L81 Corvette Registry here's a link....
3rd,If you have an original letter from 1981,perhaps the original owner made a copy of it and sent it in.....
anyway,I would keep it with the vette as part of your original papers that came with the vette.JMHO..:thumb
