hello, great site and this is my first message, Iama new owner of
a 88 vette and am loving it. I have restored several other cars,
and iam usually quite handy, although this problem is killing me.
my car is pretty much mint, although the cruise doesnt work.
nothing happens at all when you try to engage the cruise.
so my first guess has been a power supply fault, I have checked
the obvious things like fuses, but short of ripping apart the dash
this is as far as i have gone. does anyone have any suggestions
on possible quick fixes or trouble shoots i can check, i have a
haynes manual with elec schems.

Have you checked the vacuum supply to the servo?

Good luck,

You may wish to try the following:

1. Check for vacuum leaks on the two vacuum lines that attach
to the cruise control servo.

2. Check the cruise cable connection form the cruise control to the
adjuster assembly/

3. Check for proper terminal mating at the connectors. (look for
corrosion, bent terminals etc.

4. Check the cruise control clutch switch.

There is a rather lengthy electrical checkout procedure that can
be done but it covers several pages in the C4 service manual.
