greetings,
i procrastinated too long and i had to be flat bedded home yesterday as my bearing crapped out on me. however, i had all the parts (bearing assemblies, 4 u-joints) sitting on the bench at home.

today, i attempted to replace and change out everything and broke 1 of the 3 torx 55 bolts off in the bearing assembly...ugh!!....since i had used plenty of "pb-blaster" during removal and just before assembly, i was able to easily extract the broken bolt.

here is the problem. nobody in town has a replacement bolt for the bearing assembly here in orlando, florida!...can i substitute or better yet, has anyone substituted a different bolt of similar strength properties in place of their torx bolts and if so, exactly what did ya use?............thanks!.....(i am gonna post this is the discussion" section for better "exposure" as i think it could benefit those attempting to do the replacements and for them to have a spare bolt on hand).

If your not in a hurry, I would find a Corvette scrap yard and buy one. It may take a few days to get to you, but you will have the right bolt. You can also post right here on the C4 parts wanted/for sale area.
Good luck!

well, i was in a bit of a hurry so, i ordered 2 bolts (1 spare) from a local dealership and detroit shipped the wrong bolts (1 inch long!). so, i got 'em the next day after reordering them. i am very familiar with the vette junk yards however, it is very difficult to remove the bolts and a fortune in the yard has to do it. the guy at the dealership felt kinda bad, especially after hearing me *****ing so, he waived the shipping charges and then whacked me $7.98 for a single lug nut! i had found another "standard" head bolt that fit exactly however, since i did not know the grade hardness of the torx bolt, i did not used the one i bought while waiting.
