Hi everyone, I need a little help here, the wipers / washers on our 1990 Corvette quit working. Everthing else on the "Stalk" works fine, it's just the wiper / washers switch that has gone AWOL. I changed the fuse in the fuse box, and prayed as one does, but my prayers were in vain. Even with a new fuse, the wiper / washer switch does absolutely nothing. Ergo, I can't take the car out if there is a threat of rain and here in East Anglia on the east coast of England, it means that I can't risk taking the car out at all.
I have considered connecting the wiper motor directly to the battery to see if that would prompt a response but with all the relays and stuff on this car, I have hesitated to do that in case I blow up a local TV station or something. Can anyone out there help lead me thru the process of figuring out what's wrong with this thing, and via that, helping on the road to fix it?
Thanks,
James

James,
I have a 96 but the circuitry should be about the same. I may not be able to get you all the way thru the troubleshooting process, but someone here can. With the problem existing in both the wiper motor and the washer motor circuits it seems the problem is no power or in the control board. Have you verified that the wiper does not operate in either the mist, low or hi positions? Excuse me for asking these simple questions, but was the first fuse blown when you removed it? Did you check to see if the replacement fuse blew after you tried the wipers?
And do you have a voltmeter or a test lamp? You need to verify that you have power to that fuse before you do any thing else.

Hi, and thankyou for your help. The Wiper / Washers don't work on any of the switch seetings, the original fuse was not blown, and the new fuse is still intact. I don't have any test equipment but a one man garage just down the road has all that sort of stuff and he said he would take a look at the car this week. HOWEVER, he has never seen a Corvette before, there are very few of them in this part of England so any tips you can give us on troubleshooting this problem would be greatly appreciated. I will print out any advice you give me and give it to him when he comes to look at the car.
Thanks again for your help, James Baines
