I swapped out the metal roof panel for the glass roof panel and that was an experience

Wow! I bet trying to fit a weeks-worth of luggage in the trunk under an extra roof panel is an even bigger experience!! :eek That thing chops an already puny trunk in half!

The roof panel will be easier to handle when you only have one to deal with. Just grab it as far towards the middle as you can when you lift it up and it's not actually that heavy, just a bit akward. Then I always turned it around after it was off the car, and back away from the car to avoid any bad judgement. I always held it against my stomach and that made it a lot easier. :)

Have fun driving the Vette to the Westcoast. wish I were in your shoes now

Home At Last

After 2852 miles and 4 days of driving.....i have finally ended the 2005 break in cruise for #36

What a trooper

Not a problem at all

She ran flawlessly thru 200 miles of heavy rainfall (Mississippi & Lousiana)

The oil pressure was right on the mark, oil consumption (if any) was very minimal, and the oil (after i finally found the damn dipstick) was clear and clean. Hottest temps hit were in AZ & CA (93 degrees) and even with the AC at 65 degrees with some stop & go traffic thrown in, the water temp never even creeped to mid gage

I had some noise issues with the Bose AM/FM/Cassette/CD player (speed volume control), but after reading the owners manual, I realized I was the problem and not the radio...lol

I collected bugs from 10 different states (on the front end & windshield) so the 1st order of business (after unloading) was to give her a bath

Picked up a few real small road chips along the way (hood) and enough dirt & dust in the engine compartment to keep me busy detailing all weekend long

Tomorrow I will visit the SMOG Nazi's and then finish off with the registration
and licensing to make it truly California legal

Insurance increase was $664.00 per year based upon NADA value of 40,500

I also plan on putting the car up on ramps this weekend so that I can explore / inspect the under regions

I did not get any of the original documentation (build sheet / original sticker, etc) with the car, so replacements have also been put on order

No matter how long i keep this wonderful car, I will always remember the week my wife and I spent slowly (well OK kinda slowly) driving her back from North Carolina. Lynn has always been unsure about driving my other muscle cars, but she jumped in with both feet (in the Callaway), traded driving chores every 3 hours / 200 miles, and had a blast

God I hate going back to work.........I want to take another trip

Later

Ray

Ray,

Glad you made it home safe & sound & satisfied...

THAT HAS TO BE A RECORD, Almost 3000 miles in the first 4 days of Callaway ownership! Welcome home and that is the normal mode--no problems at all.

Funny stuff Luigi ;LOL :beer

The truth of the matter is, the car might have gone faster in the "fridge" than on the road, had I not made that run with everyone down I-81 to the fairgrounds that Sunday :eek

I actually ran the SNAT through the first four gears the other day @ WOT - assuming the story was true ;) http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64244

Well, I definitely know you ARE able to drive that way!
