I have a 95 Vet automatic with 75K miles. Great Shape.
The other day I went to start it and the key was hard to get into the the ignition tumbler. It went in half way and would stop. I wiggled the steering wheel and the gear shift and that did not help. It had never done this before. The tumbler assembly is a little loose in the steering column.
I eventually forced the key all the way into the tumbler so it would turn.
But it would not turn the engine over. It is like, after being forced down the tumbler, the security system cancelled out the ignition.
Has anyone ever experienced this before?
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Should I purchase a new key tumbler assembly and if so how do I get the tumbler out of the steering column?
Help me!
