Yup. Wifey and I decided to drive to Las Vegas for the weekend. I chose to take the corvette as I would be returning early by myself, leaving her to fly home later this week. I told her the vette would probably get 28 mpg or so. She was skeptical. 29.5 avg mpg. Running it 70-80 mph nearly the entire 325 miles each way. Who needs a Honda civic? By the way our speed limits are up to 75 mph on the route I took, just so's you don't think I was being all that unlawful ;)

Yep, cruising at that speed with that 6 speed is just perfect. You get to where you want to go efficiently and with great mileage.

I laugh when I tell people my Z06 gets better mileage than my Scion! :D

When the LT series engines are equipped with the 6 speed, they can get great gas mileage. My best mileage was on a trip from Columbus, Ohio to eastern Pennsylvania. Trip computer average at the end of my drive was 32 mpg. I was carrying one duffle bag with my clothes and only my self in the cockpit.

I know of one person with a ’93 6 speed that averaged 33 mpg from Columbus, OH to Texas.

I love driving my V8 Chevrolet economy car!

Not as crazy good mpgs but for my trip to and from school with my 96 Auto LT1 I get 20mpg and that is stoplight driving. On the way home at night (same route) I get 23-26mpg average on regular gas too!!! I sometimes wish I had a six speed though, it must be nice to have those two extra gears!

Not bad, I would take my Vette over any economy car any day. People are so surprised when I tell them my fuel economy for a 300hp monster!

Gotta love American Engineering!

Trip to Western PA to Akron area in Ohio. 160 miles all highway 55 and hilly in PA and 65 on the flat in Ohio. I got on the dash read out a indicated 31.5 MPG and that is with two people and luggage. Not to mention I ran the A/C, simply purring along at just under 1500 RPM in 6th at 65MPH. Not to shabby. On the way back I checked it the old fashioned way a fill up in Ohio followed by a fill up in PA got 33.75MPG!!! I couldn't believe it, will check again some other time when I'm out. Even on hilly winding back PA roads if I just cruise in 6th at 55 I can see an easy 30 MPG. I mostly average around 20MPG in mixed driving around home then again I got my foot through the head lights a lot of the time. Not too bad at all!! :boogie:v:lou I wonder what a C6 could do??? With its slightly taller gearing, a little less weight, and a much more efficent engine.

The Keystone State is a beautiful state to drive through! 33.75 mpg is incredible, I’ve always been amazed at how good the gas milage is with the LT series cars. I was wondering the same thing about the C6, they must get great mileage with their lower mass and improved aero. I would expect the C5s to be easy on the fuel as well.

Best I've seen on the C6 was 34 even, on a summer day that was 104°. When I saw that on a bank thermometer I thought I wonder what this heat is doing to my mileage and popped it up on the DIC.

Did not check it for accuracy and normally get more like 28/29 on trips not on the expressways, this was mixed city/country driving.

I had an instructor in school that had a new C6 he said he got 34 cruising on the highway at 65. That is with 436hp, can't beat it.

Ok but what about in the City

I have to be honest I havent had a chance to drive my Corvette any distance since I got it int he Spring however I was wondering what everyone is getting in the City Depending on how I drive mine, yes I love the power and at time do play a bit.So being that I can average between 15 to 18 in town. This is my second C4 last one was a 95 LT1 and I cant remember what I got in the city I know it was great on the Highway

So Whats eveyone getting in Town

93 coupe getting 24 hwy 21 city/hwy can't complain but 29 would be better

Rarely does my route include much city street driving. I live in a rural area and my in town trips are limited. But I think the worst mileage I've ever seen was low 20's on the computer. In my original post, I did the math to figure the mpg. The computers tally actually showed avg mpg to be a bit over 26mpg. But I wanted to know, so I used miles driven/ gallons used.
