3 different bumper covers for 1990???

O'k so when I was looking for a C-4 I noticed that the 90 model seemed to have 3 different bumper covers for that year. Now I know a Vette can have a lot of parts that fit other years. So I saw 90 model ZR-1's that look liked 89's and 91's I saw 90 models that had 91 rear bumper covers and 89 front covers and standard Vettes as well. My 90 model project has a 91 style rear cover and a 89 front bumper cover. Now I assume that it could be due to a late in the year lack of parts for the 1990 model and the all new covers for 1991 being fitted on the last run of 90's. Now the cars that I looked at had super low miles so I don't think it was a owner changing parts. So whats the real story for 1990.

The "real story" is that GM did not run out of 1990 parts and fitted some very late 90s with 91 rear fascias.

Your 1990 project, unless it's a ZR-1, was fitted with its 91-96 rear fascia at some time after it was built.

The front fascia is the same from 84-90. The 1990 ZR-1 rear fascia is unique to that model and that year.

The base and ZR-1 model front fascias and base model rear fascia were restyled for 1991.

probably the 3 bumpers covers available for the 90 would be

ZR1
coupe
convertible (3rd brake light relocated to bumper instead of roof)

Thanks Hib & Topless for the info sorry for the late reply but I work in the Bakken oilfield in ND. and internet connection has It's issues out there. I think with my new Verizon broadband I'll be on more, we'll see when I get back. I checked the Vin. # just a base Vette with a 91 bumper cover no ZR-1 surprise for me lol.
