35th Anniversary

It may have been a Callaway with the 5 spoke white wheels.... They only built a few 35th cars that were turbocharged (B2K option). There was one for a sale a couple of years back that you could have gotten really cheap....Buyer beware though.... That car was practically totalled years back with some serious damage...not repaired well underneath either. It was for sale at Carlisle a two years in a row...Most who know 35th's knew the story of that one. the 5 spoke white wheels do look hot though!

MRANT212 -

The car is actually is really good shape. All the emblems are there. Tires are new and rims look great. The white leather seats and the white leather steering wheel are dirty as hell. Weather stripping on the sides needs to be replaced. There were 3 scratches that I could find, one on the passenger side mirror, passenger door and drivers side corner of the hood. They are all about 1" long which I am thinking could be taken care of relatively easily. It needs a good washing in all the nooks and crannies. I'm anal like that and need everything clean. I have a Mustang and you could eat off of it that's how clean I keep it. I'm thinking a good detailer could clean everything including the seats and engine and that baby should shine up. Best of all, my wife's cousin said I could toss them $2000 a year for 4 years if I want. They really don't need the money and are going to by a new vette in the spring.

Oh one more thing. I was at Carlisle this past show and was supprised that I only saw about 4 of these 35ths there. Make me think there are not too many left of them.

I just saw the picks....nice cars. The 68-82 is actually my favorite body style and the one I loved as a kid.

As per the Nike commercials...Just do it! You got one sweet deal!!! 8k plus pay iy off in time. gotta love your family!!! Looks as though Santa came a couple of weeks early for you. Couple of years back at Carlisle there were @ 20 35ths at Carlisle. Eventually these cars may start selling at a bit of premium once the market realizes how scarce they are...Its a C4 so its probably at the bottom of the market now. Of course you buy these cars for fun...If they go up in value over time its just an added bonus!!

MR RANT - I think you are correct and it was a Callaway with the Dymag wheels. I did a search and found this pic. I'm not a fan of the ground effects on it though.

Yeah I agree, you buy them for fun and 'cause you love Corvettes. I like the fact that its kinda rare. I'm not buying to collect, and I won't be one of those owners who lets it sit in the garage 90% of the time and doesn't drive it at all.
Santa didn't exactly come early though. They want to keep it garaged until the spring. Also, we are expecting our first kid in February and the wife has hinted that I will need to come off with the goods at that time. The goods meaning... ahh something sparkly. I was like no problems. $8000 for me a couple thousand for something sparkly...it is all good!!

Wow...how many miles do you have on yours?

Yeah it is really a neat car and something unique as you say. I wonder how many of the 2050 are still around.

Mine has 55,000 on it. It had 19,000 when I bought it.

It would be intereseting to know how many are still left. I have seen several parted out on ebay and still others have been modified.

One thing to tuck away in your memory bank is that the anniversary color is unique. It didn't even have a color code assigned to it by GM. The color code on the car will be for the standard white that was used in '88. The color on the anniversary cars is more of a cream. It was called the Anniversary Tint. Any repainting or touch ups will need to be done by matching the color of the car, not by the color code.

There are a couple of Callaways that were without the ground effects also.I think @ 6 or 7 B2K 35ths were built. My car just broke the 30k mile mark over the summer. These cars look fantastic with the roof off on a bright summer day!!!

Hey, got any pictures without the top? I interested to see what this looks like.

Couple of more pics at www.corvettemaster.com. Click on the right column that says 1988 35th Anniv and scroll down. If I remember there are a couple of pics of my car with the roof off. Where in NJ are ya??

Very nice! If I get the 35th in the spring, I sure hope I can get the seats to look like yours. Anyway, I like it with the top off. I hate convertables, but the smaller opening is like having a sun roof! Oh, I am in Mercer county near Princeton.

I have been in the Princetone area numerous times...They have over the summer a big car show in Forrestal Village if I recall. I have also golfed there a few times at the TPC course named Jasna Polana(off of Province Line RD) ..nice place... Took both my cars to the course a number of times.Everyone with their BMW,Benz,Lexus/Porsche cars in the parking lot and I either come in with the bright 35th or thundering with the 71 big block....Every one looks because both cars are so different. Even some of the snobby golfers smile:cool
