365hp Valve cover question

I have a 1965 365hp car. The valve covers, which I assumed come original with the car has the seam thru the "o". Am I correct by saying they probably didn't come with the car due to being a 65 and not a 66?

no casting flaw on 65s, appears during 66 m.y.

if it makes you feel any better, my largely correct 65 L76 also came to me with casting flaw valve covers - why the original valve covers were swapped for identical yet late-66 valve covers is a mystery to me too. It did run through a large vette wholesaler at one point, perhaps they just have a bin of these things and they slapped on the shinny-er ones (the 66-flaw covers that ended up on my car have a coating of silver paint on them too).

I picked up a pair of the original, correct no-flaw covers because it irked me, and I sold my casting flaw covers to cover the costs.
