For the guys that helped on the carb selection thread, thanks. Bought and mounted the Avenger yesterday.

Have a question on spark plugs on this engine. What brand are you running and what temp range? Do you run a hotter or colder plug than a normal 350

Cool, I'm confident you'll be mighty happy with the Avenger! Was your shop willing to ship one?

Anyways, I can't comment on the plugs question without knowing what heads you have on the engine. If they are machined for a taper seat or not etc...

General plug advice, likely worth what you paid for it :)

Stick with a stock heat range plug until your run nitrous. Then back off one heat range.

I advice you to NOT buy platinum plugs for a carburated motor. You going to be changing them every year anyways, and the premium $ isn't worth it. Take a look at the AC Rapid Fire plugs, a lotta guys are having very good results with them.

Avoid the BS "trick" plugs like the Splitfire or Bosh doubles. They don't do dink over the traditional single electrode design.

I forget which plugs I have in my engine right now, likely Autolite's. The car being in the body shop prevents me from looking at them for you, sorry.

My parts guy wasn't interested in shipping. He's a small speedshop supplier and I deal with him in cash. I could do it for you but by the time you paid Fl. sales tax and shipping you wouldn't save any money over Summit's price. It seems Holley is running a promotion on them at this time, you may be able to pick one up locally.

I'm running SportsmanII heads. I was always an Autolite fan in my younger years, but have been away from the vette business since 1985.

I finely figured out how to get a pic in my profile:dance , check it out.

Cool,

I'll snoop around the 'net and see what I can find on the carb.

Sportman II heads are very nice - have you ported them? I'll check your profile out for the pic too, tnx!

Yes, we didn,t go wild they flow 265 cfm.

Speaking of NOS, in your first reply. When I built this engine I didn't even consider NOS, (after my time). However since spending some time in the Kill section and reading of a ZR1 running around Tampa here, I have had a strong urge to look into it. Will my bottom end handle it? I'm running a Eagle cast crank, 6'' Eagle I beams, and JE forged pistons.

265 is just fine. My S/R Torquers numbers @ 28" of water are here:

It looks like our two engines are going to be very similar power wise up to around 5000RPM, where your cam and intake setup will level off.

Forged pistons are the magic you need to run a 100 shot safely. The cast crank is a problem for much over 150 though. What's your CR?

Bottom line is that I'd feel perfectly comfortable putting a 100 shot on your setup, assuming you have the verticle clearance for the spray bar under the carb. An L88 hood will give you the added room you need.

Since the car is all apart now, you may want to consider doing exactly that, giving you the room to grow upwards in the future as necessary.

CR is 9.8-1

Yea, I have hood clearance problems with thr RPM intake, but I think I can slip it in with a drop base air cleaner. I was trying not to have to go with the BB hoop, and no side pipes, I like being in the stealth mode.

That pic looks sweet 73383. Let some crotch rocket enthusiast drive you car in that state and find out what real power is. haha.
