So, while I am looking for an original a/c compressor for my 427/400hp car, I came across this on ebay...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3ARTQ%3AUS%3A1

Hmmmm... so I send the seller a note saying that if he wants his description to be more accurate, he should know that NO 435hp cars came with factory a/c. He responds to me with this...

"The only answer I can give you is I bought the 427 435 HP new from Jay Kline Chevrolet in Minneapolis Minnesota and it came with ac."

Hmmm, again. Anybody with thoughts on this? And I'm still looking for an original a/c compressor if anyone has any leads, I'd appreciate it.

if he bought the car new, than let him show you the window sticker or tank sheet showing the A/C option on an L71 car......... Other than that proof I doubt he is going to get anyone on the forum to believe that story :D

Never happened. ;LOL

It's a good thing you said that, 67HEAVEN, otherwise I might want you to go back to your attic and dig out your old a/c compressor.;LOL BTW, I had the m/c rebuilt, but they painted it the wrong coclor and the t/a's are scheduled to be rebuilt when I get the diff rebuilt.

This reminds me of an 85 Trans Am i saw for sale on ebay that stated the car was a FACTORY convertible. I politely wrote him that it was a nice car but pointed out that all convertible cars that year were made by the aftermarket.

It ended up where the seller wrote me back stating that I was a "Novice" and that he was right. He also falsly identified the motor as the L69 H.O. 305, while his Vin# clearly stated that it wasn't, and stated "that's what I was told" about the motor. So you go figure, I'm the novice.

These people are just waiting for the one sucker that's born every minute, so you can't reason with them.

another reason to distrust ebay

I'm sorry to say that I've seen this often. It's bad enough when it's a personal party doing this kind of thing but when it's a shop that exclusively sells Corvettes and they're trying to cheat customers, it really gets under your skin.

We found a nice C3 big block vert. on a corvette dealers website a little while back and decided to go look at it. The description on the site made this car sound great (photos and all) but seeing the car in person changed everything. To make a very long story short, we told the guy that the engine didn't match the cars number. He somehow blamed us for the car not being what he advertised it as. :crazy As of right now, that car is still listed on his site as an original engine, big block Corvette.

These types of things happen when you're dealing with the amount of money these cars are bringing now days. Buyers have to educate themselves before they get taken advantage of. I'll have to say that the CAC archive has come to my rescue more than once.

Yes, that's another great thing about the forums; it's like having many, mnay knowledgeable buddies who will look at a part or a car that's for sale and being able to bring in the experience and knowledge from all over the country to help you make an informed decision.

Cheers to the CAC!:beer
