6 speed question

ok ......:) I dont care about locking the tranny....could care less. Ok? .....I'm speaking of the late models. Do the STEERING columns still lock on these models? If they do , what prevents them form being locked at any time, seeing that they are not dependent on locking the gearshift too? It would seem that you could lock the steering even while driving if you turned the key off. Is there somthing that prevents this from occuring?

This maybe The Missing Link . . .

Going back through this thread the Missing Link might be the Key Release Button.

Late Model Manual 6 Speeds GM Products are turned off by rotating the Ignition to the Off Position, :duh. To Lock the Steering Column, the Key Release Button must be pressed in while turning the Ignition to the Lock Position.

I've often wondered why people have had such a hard time removing the key from the Ignition of my Late Model 6 Speed's. This is my second Late Model 6 Speed so I guess it just comes natural, pressing the Key Release Button in while I'm turning the Ignition to the Lock Position.

Just to keep the record straight, I've never let anyone (besides my wife) :nono take either of my Girls (Z28/LT4) for a cruise without me occupying the Passenger Seat.

Well well, absolutly fantastic. That is the missing link.
Do you have a lever to push to get the key out ?
(the button). There ,now that wasnt so hard now was is.....:L Thank you, thank you very much.:BOW

I wasn't messin' with you Dave, I guess I just didn't understand your question. :o
