90Callaway: The turbo flange is indeed 2.5" but I fitted a 3" section of tubing to it.

How close is the oil filter to the exhaust ?

Just looked at the pic of the exhaust again. Is that a smaller diameter oil filter ?

Good eye. It is a small diameter filter and the clearance is appx. 1/2".

Hello Steve,

Small question from my side. You compleetly optimized the engine from beginning till the end. Are you also going to optimize other componends on your Callaway?
I see you still have the sleavespring at the rear (i think also front) and with the Callaway idea of changing not one thing on a car but the entire package, a coilover set would be better i think. Same thing for the brakesystem, i didn't see if you still got the original calipers but a bigger caliper with rotor wouldn't be such a bad idea with there HP readouts. Just an idea..

Great project of course!

Groeten Peter.

Groeten Peter: Thanks for the feedback. I am a little weird when it comes to modifying cars. I first got started with cars in the '70's and the only thing we new was straight line performance. For some reason that has kind of stuck with me. I will increase the strength of things as they are needed. You ought to check out the spec's on my '67 632" Sting Ray if you want to see strengthened components. I am not really into extreme handling or braking. That is not to say that I like a car that rolls over in corners or can't stop. In fact, I am a big Ferrari fan. I have had a F355B, a F355 Spider, and a 360 Spider. I am currently on the short list for a F430. Hopefully, it will be here by this summer.

Vettelt193: As *89x2* stated, I checked it off on the option list when I ordered the car.

Thanks for the reply Steve!

And Groeten Peter is the save as Greetings Peter (in dutch) ;)

I hope it's not bad form resurrecting this thread. But I was interested in what the coating he used on the exhaust was. I'm still a bit away from making a purchase, as I want to hear some systems first, but I'm thinking about an exhaust eventually for my car. I don't really think shiny stainless looks right on the pre-91 body style cars, and remember 632C2 put some kind of flat-black coating on his. Apparently Plasti-Kote Hi-Temp. I am curious how he cures the parts with this, it says on their website to bake them at 600F, which isnt' an option for me. The other option is to run the car for an hour within 8 hours of applying the paint. But I doubt the back half would get to 600F...

Anyway, the real reason for the post is in looking at the pictures, I just noticed he still has Gatorbacks on the back! All that power, and he probably can barely use it with those things! :)

I do use the Plasti-Kote Hi-Temp. I don't pre-bake the parts prior to running nor run for an hour within 8 hours of applying the paint. I just paint them and then run it.

Short of a Drag slick, I don't think there are any tires that can hold up to the kind of power and torque this motor makes. I make my DynoJet runs with BFG Drag Radials. On the street, the Drag Radials aren't any better for traction under boost than the Gatorbacks.

Of course, these problems are tame compared to my '67 632" Sting Ray. With over 900 rear wheel horsepower, it is always an adventure.
