Rather then send you and email and then have you tell me to post it for every one else.....I'll just do it here....

A few questions there Mr.Fat Fendor's...

During your 502's break in...what weight oil did you use and for how many miles.

Also what was ..(If you kept Track of it) Your Miles per gallon?

And with the 502 hot after cruzen on the Hi Speed Canadian Slat flats ...what was you oil pressure at Idol..

I'm running 5W-30W for the break in. To night I went over a friends house Via the Garden State Parkway and was changing my speed fro 60-70 mph for about 5 miles before I exit-ed. When I got back home I was idoling with about 30 PSI of Oil Pressure and some time it would dip down to 25.

Now the tech sheet that came with the 502 says that oil pressure can be low at idol. I'm wondering what your experience was during break in.

Also ...without refilling the tank and just by going by the fuel gauge ...I think I'm getting about 12 MPH...:crazy .

So give me the run down.....:beer

Quaker State 10W30 Full Synthetic for 100 miles then changed it and the AC Delco PF1218C filter. Same again for 400 miles, then changed again. Changed once more last week at 4,200 miles and now I'm on a normal change rotation.

16.9 miles per IMPERIAL gallon to Bowling Green, KY and back - 1600+ miles, averaging 70-75 mph. That'll work out to something in the 14mpg range with yer tiny U.S. gallons. ;)

As for city driving, it's so bad that I'm afraid to calculate it. I just keep pulling in and filling up. Mind you, it'd be better if I'd stop cruising the streets in 2nd gear, but it sounds so neat. :gap Some of us are easily entertained. ;LOL

At idle - fluctuates between 25 and 35 depending on temperature (I think).

Yeah me to....:L

I couldn't believe my eys....I was cruzen around the neighboorhood ..expanding my distance each time as I gained more confidence.

I looked down at the fuel gauge and did a double take....Holy S**T..!!! Man this thing lives to slurp fuel aroud town...!!! It must have gottem 9-10 around
here......At $2.75 a gallon...;LOL ;LOL ..And with all the noise this motor and pipes make the neighboors now know when I'm come-en or go-en...:L .
My neighboor across the street is in his late 70's and the other day I was over just checken on him and his wife due to the heat.

So he asked how the car was coming along and had I found out what the problem with the motor was. So .. I asked him what problem is that???.. He said when I start it up it sounds like it's "Lumpy.....:L ... And when I drive up the street it sound like it's trying to smooth out...:L .

I told him it has a special cam ...he said..." Well you better take it back to the place where you got it and have them give you one that ain't so lumpy..:D

Anyway... Thanks for the info and I'm looking forward to meeting you and everyone else....

Way, way, way back when Heaven was a new 427/435, and after I switched up to 4.56:1 and a bunch of engine mods, I was averaging 8mpg around town.

In those days, gas was 35¢ a gallon. Thirty-five freaken cents. Yesterday, I paid $3.79 for Sunoco 94. :crazy

Mind you, my income has grown by well over 10 times since then too. ;)

But at least back then your money bought you "real" gas like Sunoco 260:D

Tom

Yup, BTDT

first I went about a mile or two...put it back in the garage...no problems

went about 10 miles or so...LOOKIN GOOD

went 25x2 miles (outgoing straight road, the return had lots of switchbacks).....HOT DIGGITY

confidence 'way up there, took the car downa' shore (90x2 miles) and on the way down, threw a shifter rod clip and had the pleasure of being flatbedded back home...

lesson learned? ABSOLUTELY NONE :hb

Dude...Bad thing to lose ...a trany...or a fuel pump!!!! :ugh But I took a cue From 67 Heaven .... he lost his Fuel Pump after a few short miles. I got me a spare packed in the Vette.

...........................Man ..I miss them old Mechanical Pumps.....:ugh

Nah...........

That's where the trailer comes in handy. I put enough miles on weekly, when I go away, I like AC, CD, Serius Radio and a mobile garage;) I'd like to hook up with you in Carlisle seeing as how we both live in NJ and have yet to meet. I'll be with the CAC gang, parked in the Solid Axle section, the bar right outside gate 3 for lunch, the Holiday Inn in Mechanicsburg at night and probably the only guy there with a 62 Vette tattoo on his lower left leg, look me up, I have :beer
