67 Stingray mod specs

I have a question about the performance of a tricked out 67 Stingray.
A person I know has a few claims about one that he supposedly owned,
here goes...

-1200 horsepower in the engine, 700 to wheels
-converted to DOHC
-all pistons fully bored
-2 160 shot nas; switch for 60, 100, and 160
-shortened pulleys
-sport shift
-20in mushroom tires on back
-16in mushroom tires on front
-0-60 in 3 secs
-0-100 in 5 secs
-340mph top speed

That's all I can remember right now, basically he said that he completely tricked it out.
Personally, I don't believe him. I was just wondering if someone could help clear this up for me.

Alright, thanks for clearing this up for me, I thought he was full of ****,
but I wasn't completely sure. If I'm not mistaken a McLaren F1 can hit
240 mph, and I was under the impression that it was one of the fastest
wheel driven cars. You wouldn't happen to know the theoretical top speed
for a tricked out '67 Stingray would you?

My '67 big block would top out at around 145 but it was a mild build with 3.36 gears. It might take some research but I doubt if the L88 racers ran much over 160-165 at LeMans. Aerodynamics is a limited factor on these cars. It would take a bunch of horsepower to push one of these bricks to 200 plus some aero aids to keep it stable. Normally you figure a 20% horsepower loss through the driveline and this guy is saying over 45%. Tell him to get his foot off of the brake and it will go faster. :L

For comparison take a look at the current issue of Hot Rod Magazine. They have a feature on Chuck Mallet's slime green 435 inch daily driver with Vortec Blower. It will run in the 10s in the quarter with a 3.4 or so 0-60 and top out at 220.

I think that Gale Banks holds the record for fastest stock bodied top speed with a slicked up Firebird and a whole bunch of twin turbo horsepower. He has topped 300 at Bonneville but it takes a lot of power and a very slick body plus years of refinement and trying. A stock '67 body just isn't going to do it.

My 67 BB (some mods) has 400+ hp at the rear wheels according to G-Tech pro, the problem is getting the power down. With some BIG tires and 4:11 gears you could probably get 4 sec or slightly less for a 0-60 time but then 120-130 mph or so would be the max speed. BTW you have to have GIANT ONES to take this car over 130 as it scares you silly. Very bad aerodynamics, lots of front lift.

One other thing. The Mallet 435 in Hot Rod with the supercharger puts out 700 rear wheel horsepower documented.

Total bull....

I don't think any of what you said has any chance of being true. The top fuel dragsters, the fastest cars on 4 wheels, barely get into the low 300MPH range. I think the current record for a top fuel car is around 320MPH. That is running 500 cube, nitro burning 5000HP race motors. I fully modified 67 would be lucky to break 140-150 (and that would be a wild ride).
