Hi all, new here but need some help. I pulled a 427 out of my 69 Camaro when I got it many years ago. I've figured it to be a corvette motor but need some help w/the numbers. They are as follows:
TO130LM Dated: A-4-9 (.030 over)
Partial vin??? 195715307
Casting #'s A7 512 272
I have one 840 head, the other was junk. Also have the pistons (.030) Might want to sell it but not too sure yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated!:D

...TO130LM...

T code for Tonawanda, New York engine assembly plant
0130 Date engine was assembled at Tonawanda (January 30, 1969)
LM engine suffix for 390hp with standard transmission

...A-4-9 ...
casting date January 4, 1969

...195715307...
VIN derivitive of the Corvette this engine was originally installed in. #15307 19S715307 First numeric 5 is an alpha S.

Let's hope #15307 is out there somewhere

:)

You do know that Chevy put 427's into Camaro's in 69. Make sure that engine is not the original engine to a COPO Camaro. The LM suffix is a Corvette suffix application, but you never know.

Yes, but the motor is a 2 bolt main. Trust me, I've thought about it and thats why I held on to that motor for so long lol With no build sheet or pop I'm trying to track down previous owners on down the line and being built in CA, no Xcode! Grrrrr! TY for the reply! :)

Looks like a great find. I checked the The Corvette C3 Registry website and out of 971 VIN's listed as existing for 1969 this one wasn't there. I believe the first digit is a 7 and not a 1. If the 69 Corvette was a coupe the VIN would have been 194379S715307, if built as a convertible it would have been 194679S715307

Great hunting!

Upon a closer look, looks like you'r right...79S715307. I don't have the first 4 digits. Thanks! :)

The engine is question has a Corvette VIN deriviative on it.

Yep. It's Corvette, not Camaro.

The 7 following the S is the car line series code. All '69s had the 7. The code varied from model year to model year (it's a 4 for the '68 models), but all cars during that particular model year would have had the same code in the same position.

:)

"COPO Camaros" did not use 390hp 427s.

Yeah I know. They did put 427's into Camaros. This block is probably 99.9% Corvette original. The car should be reunited with the engine. I was just pointing out 427's were possible as well.
