Hello, on the 74's did they come with a heat-tube to activate the choke? or were they electric? if so,what color is the wire(s) that get the coil working.

thanks in advance

Robin

Neither of the above. There is a bimetallic spring inside a metal 'stove' on the intake manifold that unwinds, pushing on a lever to open the choke as the engine heats up. It's located on the passenger side of the manifold, directly below the choke lever on the carb. :beer

mikey, thanks ,now i know i have to wire up the choke on my edelbrock with my own wires.

Robin

The electric choke on your Edelbrock needs a full 12 volts - don't connect it to the (+) coil terminal, as that only gets 7-8 volts with the engine running. Best bet is to run the choke wire through a firewall grommet and connect it to the fuse block cavity marked "Ign".

John , we do think alike. since my car's been butchered allready i have plenty of 12v sources. the ground will be a simple jumper from the choke to one of the carb studs.
thank you again .i look forward to your input anytime. btw why is there a Ferrari poster in your garage?
