'78 A.I.R. Pump ???

I have a '78 L82 and the AIR Pump is factory, # 7817872, but the backing plate (or spacer) is Chevy Blue, the book calls for it to be Gray or Zinc. I wonder if Blue is correct because this is a very early car, built Oct. '77. Some things change after a few months of production. Is Blue correct or did someone paint it?

I do not have a '78-'79 Judging guide, but I have seen these with those "blue" backing plates on the A.I.R. pump you are refering too, especially on an L-82. I would'nt change it until you could document that it is OR is not original. This "blue" backing plate is not common, but it has been seen before. I remember judging a few '80 L-82s that had this same set-up.

Finally made it over-have been a lurker for some time, had some computer glitches and could'nt register-got frustrated and gave up and just read posts for about a year. Finally a week or two ago, spent a few hours getting "logged" on and registered-so far, so good!!!!!!!!!
