78 Silver Anniversary w/low mileage - OK to buy?

I'm looking at a 78 silver anniversary with approx 8,500 miles. The owver has the car garaged and take sit out evry 4-6 weeks for a quick drive (a couple miles) just to keep the engine parts lubricated.

I'm wondering if a car with low mileage that is only driven occasionally can actaully cause problems. He does take it for drives, but I don't think for that many miles. I'm not goign to ahve atechniceian with me and I have printed the checklist from this forum on what to look for.

I'm curious to your opinions on this car. I've never purchased a used car and I'm flying to see the car on Monday. He's the 2nd owner. The first owner was his friend who was a collector. The car is in mint condition with the exception of some pinholes in the exhaust.

My email is irf19@msn.com Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Isaac

I'd feel more comfortable buying a car like the one you're looking at than one of these "ultra low" mile cars with 8.2mi, 14.8mi, or even 112mi. At least the one you're looking at seems to be driven enough to where you should'nt have a problem with it.

The car youre lookin at has low miles. Thats good. If he thoroughly warmed up the engine each time he drove it, then , thats what counts. Ask for maintenance records, repair reciepts, his friends phone number, etc.... let us know how you liked it.

ANY car can have problems!

I am a fan of higher mileage because I feel it represents many reliably driven miles. However, the good point that I see in this particular purchase is that it has been driven regularly even if not for many miles.

You should ask yourself what you plan on doing with your vette.
Do you want an original vette that you will only drive occasionally, a weekend driver or do you want a daily driver?

Anyhow, I'd still check everything to be sure that things are in good working order. The vehicle is still 25 years old.

Happy shopping!

My landloard bought an 80 at a car show it only had 21K on the odo but it had more than that seems when he bought it that the odo was not working right at the cruise control transducer sp? I didn't have the heart to tell him about it. He likes it and is happy with it he paid a little more than I would have but it is in great shape.
