84' L-83 Crossfire Questions

I own an 84' and to no surprise it has the not-as-powerful-as-I-would-like-L 83. I have been thinking about putting a L-(3)83 (that what I call a 383 stroker, Ok so it not so cleaver). But I want to keep the Stock air filter box; I like the idea of a cold air box built into the hood. So does anyone know if I can change the crossfire intake, and TBI and replace it with a better intake manifold and fuel systems while retaining the air filter box in is proper place.

You may want to post this question in the Crossfire site. You will have to join in order to ask...but the price is right. Most go with the x ram http://www.x-ram.com/. But if you are going to carb...the hood needs to be changed.
