Need help with 84 headlights

My alternator can barely support 16 headlights! What kind of a system are you running? ;)

Seriously, you could be a little less vague with your question.

Don't give up! Let's try it again.

Took the posts in the other thread and merged them with this one.

Now pas stays up any ideas
When it won't close does the motor do anything ?
Make a noise , try to run , click , bang ...................?
Do you have power at the motor on down circuit when trying to close?
Have you checked the 3 relays that operate the motor ?

Tim, when you had that passenger side headlight assembly apart, did you figure out how the limit switches work? It may be a dirty limit switch is causing this problem. If you studied how they worked, you would see that the armature of the motor must be able to move smoothly on its axis. When the gear that meshes with the worm gear stops moving, because the door has hit its stops, the worm gear will push the motor armature up or down against the springs on the armature, and the limit switch will open.
The bearings for the motor should be cleaned, then lubricated with a light weight white grease, like Lubriplate. The motor brushes, commutator, and the limit switches need to be clean.
My '84 was acting like yours, until I cleaned and lubed the motors. That was about 7 years ago. They now flip up or down in less that a second!
